"So, Doctor, where are we off to next?"

The Time Lord looked up from the console and grinned. "How about Christmas anywhere and anytime you choose. My little gift to you."

"But you don't do Christmas. I'd think it'd be too 'domestic' for you with all those things like shopping and decorating."

"Rose, those things you're talking about didn't come into being until the eighteen hundreds and didn't last longer than the middle of the twenty second century. I was thinking more along the lines of an old-fashioned Christmas celebration with caroling and sleighing and huge dinners."

"Well, alright, but I'm not wearing a corset again. I still have bruises from the last time we did Christmas."

"Don't worry, you won't have to. Now head off to the wardrobe room and dress warmly!"

"Any particular period of history?"

"Nah, just dress as you normally would but in much warmer clothes. Trust me, you'll want them."

Half an hour later Rose appeared in the console room to find the doors sitting open and the Doctor nowhere in sight. A note taped to the console simply instructed her to go outside. She pulled up the hood of her jacket and stepped through the doors...into a darkened world filled with snow and tiny shining lights suspended in midair.

"What do you think?" came a voice from behind her.

She turned to find the Doctor leaning against a side of the TARDIS, a wide grin on his face. " 'S beautiful! Where are we?"

"Earth, North America, in the year three hundred. Nowhere that can impact your species' culture. I thought you'd like to have your own little Christmas celebration without anyone else."

"You mean we're here in the middle of nowhere because you didn't want to be around all that domestic stuff."

"Well..."

"It's alright. This is amazing and really it's even more so because we're the only ones seeing it. Thank you."

He smiled. "You're welcome, Rose. So what do you want to do first? I found some old sleds in one of the storage rooms and earlier I spotted a few hills we could use them on."

"You sledding? Now this I have to see. Come on, let's get to it!"

A few hours later, covered in snow and with faces red from the cold, the two of them made their way back to the TARDIS. As they walked through the doors they stopped in shock. Everything in the console room had been covered in strings of tinsel and the same tiny lights that had been floating outside the TARDIS earlier.

Rose grinned and poked the Doctor with an elbow. "And you said you didn't get into the domestic side of Christmas. This is lovely!"

"I didn't do this, Rose," he replied, looking suspiciously towards the ceiling. "It seems that the TARDIS has decided to give you a twenty-first century Christmas with all the trappings. There must be something she...wants..." He trailed off with an exasperated sigh as he caught sight of something.

"What is it?"

"Look up."

She did and a mischievous smile appeared on her face. "Well, Doctor? Will we be following tradition?"

"Well, Rose, I suppose we possibly could but I-mmph!"

Rose pulled away and smiled. "That wasn't so bad, now was it?"

He opened his eyes and slowly smiled. "Not at all. But, I don't believe that we've fulfilled our obligation to tradition yet," he said while leaning in to steal another kiss from a giggling Rose.

The TARDIS sighed in contentment and decided that it had definitely been a good idea to decorate for the holidays.
