Okay, LJ, that wasn't funny.

Not even slightly. ::quivers:: PHEW.

Next fishy ch. It's what's relatively hot for me, writing-wise, so it's jumped to the top of the list. Not a very long or very exciting chapter, but -- dude, it's WORDS. Yay! Once again, thanks to my inimitable innie_darling for the speedy beta, and best wishes for getting well pronto! *HUGS ( Read more... )

In the car, pointed down the highway to the airport, it occurs to him that maybe it feels wrong because he wants to get back. Wants to get back out there, the blacky-black sea, smell the salt and feel the wind slap his face.

He can’t wait, and he doesn’t quite know what to do with that.

“This how it felt, Sammy?” he whispers to the empty car. “Stanford, college, getting what you wanted?”

Oh, Dean.
*clutches him*
*cries a bit*

I love this, even though it hurts so damn much.

Thank you, honey! Yeah, it's kinda hard to put Dean with John sans Sammy and not have some ouch there. *HUGS*

I love that moment of Dean showing John the check, sharing some beets together just as guys without so much of the weight that usually hangs on them. Yay to more fishing!

Butting in to say I adore the typo here - John and Dean sharing beets is a delightful image!

*giggles like crazy*

Maybe they're sharing the beets from the bottom of a jar of pickled eggs...

They'd both have wide, stained-pink grins!

I love this story so much - something about Dean finding out who he is without his dad or Sam around just really floats my boat. Hope to see more soon!

THat's exactly it, to me -- Dean coming to terms with HIMSELF. I think that's the attraction of stories like this, where it's Dean out of his element, or remaking his element. Thank you!!

Lady, you are SO on form right now.

This is brilliant in so many ways. I totally teared up when he sent Sam the money (for books! *sobs*) and also when he was leaving, after, despite what John said, very much being the parent and caregiver in the relationship.

He's going home, but it CAN'T LAST. My poor Dean.

Yeah, he better enjoy this season -- I think Sam's crisis canonically took place in 05, so it's getting closer to time. :-/ Thank you, honey, so much!
