oh god, I know. Just. Dean. Just. He knew right then, that even though that really was John, that something was really, horribly wrong.
Yes, there were tears, and then there was screaming like a maniac at the TV. What did John say? And what did he mean by "watch out for Sammy"???? That's killin' me.
I don't know what he meant. I mean, are they eventually going to go an evil!Sam route? Is THAT what "watch out for Sammy" meant? Or is it just, watch out for him, for your brother?
OMG! I loved the way it was filmed. I loved everything about this episode. I'm really having a hard forming thoughts....Really I totally shouldn't be typing.
If I lived in LA and were to run into JDM in the grocery store in the near future? I would be like one of the nutbar fans he mentioned who comes running and crying all over him. Seriously, I wouldn't be able to help myself. Teribly unfair thing #516: JDM looked smokin' hot in this ep. He looked younger than he did in much of last season. Kripke! You taunt us with beauty and snatch it away!
Anyway, on a note of trying to deal with this in a more rational way, I love the potential for fanfic that this episode has. The mystery of what John said to Dean. The fact that dean doesn't remember anything that he saw while he was in the coma. Their individual and family reaction to everything that happened. If I look at it that way, it's a huge gift.
If I think about John dead on the floor, I want to smack Kripke's bald little head.
The potential for storyage is PHENOMENAL. ::shiver:: I just -- ugh. I'm flattened. YOU need to grab that "Leave Me Here" song I linked to earlier. It won't stop playing in my head, got a LOT louder after seeing the ep. *sob*
I totally thought they'd have Dean remember and have cheated death twice...and I think that's gotta have consequences. Excellent lines it it - loved all the ones you picked Janissa.
I want to know what John said to Dean. I think it has to be the truth about Sam - or part of it - cos he knows that knowledge has to be passed on, that Dean might need it. I just wanna know what it is! And what the deal is? Is John dead, or off doing evil things in some hell dimension (maybe I've watched Angel too much), and so the theme of hunting for Dad will continue.
They were all excellent, but I agree, JA was fantastic.
Also could not stop looking at his body - please please one layer like that all the time.
So ded after this ep. SO glad i chose it over CSI.
Wonderful Acting. Wonderful, run you through the wringer emotion. Humor. (LOVED Dean's snark/comments that you noted above) Familial love in the EXTREME! (again, your quote above. John's comments first to Sammy then to Dean. btw - i knew then what the "Sweetening the pot" HAD to be... i'd figured that would be it, but i had hoped i was wrong. At that point, i knew. Damn it!)
Watching Dean's reactions from the "fighting it" to bargaining (that damn near killed me! comments about Soldiers taken from the field and Dean being more concerned about protecting his family than about "not dying".) to his acceptance. I openly admit to bawling like a damn baby!
Then John... oh John. Yeah, you may not have been the BEST dad, but you tried. and I WANT to know what he whispered to Dean! Was it about Sammy? Was it about how to defeat the demon? Was it something about making sure he (John) didn't "come back" to be used against them? The look on Dean's face... it was BIG, whatever

That scene, that scene at the end, John telling Dean that he was proud of him, and that he was the glue... holy good god.
