Monday Blahs

Feb 05, 2007 13:43

Not an auspicious start to the day. I set the alarm for the regular time, but forgot to turn it on. Woke up with evil headache 1:45 late, just about the time I should have been at work. Much flying around, didn't know I could pull it together so fast, and I was only an hour late in. Traffic cooperated, but will have to get gas on the way home to ( Read more... )

Why do I feel like an information junkie?

Maybe because we're *all* information junkies on this bus? :-)

Information mining is a *good* thing! I am grateful for all the help we can get - now it looks like identifying something that fencers would find fun, I can get on short notice, and will fit easily into a basket. It looks like some more embroidery silk would not go awry either.

How does the green silk hang after it is washed? I'm supposed to ask about something technical that I can't remember the term for. spikywheel says I should only need 4 yards.

It looks Marvelous! It shrank about 10% in length, so it is a tiny bit thicker, but still looks the same - I think. I have it here at work, need to actually compare it to the original. Remember it is only 36" wide, so amounts may be closer than they appear. It feels sooooo good. Now to decide what we want out of it before offering the rest to the world - all in the interest of avoiding a fabric intervention.

Did it go limp when washed or did it retain some of the natural stiffness? How much of the natural sizing remained? Danke.

It really didn't have that much stiffness to start with, but it did get a little bit softer. And I found out when I got home that *ALL* of the fabric had been run through the washer. I was stunned - way more than I expected. And therefore I can't give you any that hasn't been washed yet. I'll cut off the yardage you need and you can confer if it will do.

And for Dun Carraig...Molly is a string junkie, crazy brocade tablet weaving woman, and Erwin fights heavy. He likes beer and he likes to come up behind me to play with my amber necklaces. She's also into ME stuff. Oh, and they have a little girl.

And I think they're both, or at least Molly is, Rolling Thunder.

BTW, LLT says she knows Molly from Caid, she might have some ideas for you. I'll try to remember to mention this to her.
