questionnaires at the movies

So, thing is that today I went to a retrospective called Venice in Rome, where you basically go to see for a week movies that were at the Venice Film Festival without cuts and in original language. I went to see The Wrestler.

brief review of the movie and not so brief rant about dumb questionnaires from the production or whatever it is )

dubbing sucks, review, stephen king, general bitching, books, movies, wtf

I think people who make dumb movie decisions about dubbing must be in charge of those survey questions. I know Quebec has rules about dubbing because it makes films more accessible than subtitles. They care more about the politics than the artistry. Does Italy have as laws about it?

Which Chabon book did you get? Mr. E.S. loves the Sandman comics. He's currently re-reading the last book. I've been tempted to buy him a Gaiman novel. Let me know if you would recommend it.

That's probably true. Mh, here the law is that you basically dub everything that comes out. Here there are a couple of cinemas that have original versions, but they are in the center and it's probably for the tourists' benefits and maybe it'll be the same thing in Milan, but that'd be it. We just don't have a no-dubbing policy. I quite remember fondly when I was in Paris and you had two cinemas with dubbed movies and the rest with subtitles *sigh*.

I got Gentlemen of the Road, which is also quite short so I'll probably try that before the others. The Gaiman I got was American Gods and since I'm kind of re-falling in love with Sandman these days I'll probably go next with that one. I'll sure let you know!
