Yeah, he's a beta, but he's got self esteem and isn't inexperienced. He's not like Kal-Paten. Devin is seen as being more sensitive by Makaiden on one hand but "a Guthrie" on the other and thus she's wary. I thought his long time crush was sweet. When it comes to *her* he feels like he isn't good at explaining how he feels, but she represents what is worthy for him to rebel from his family.

She's really consistent in her quality. I agree with that.

Ooooooooooooh, no wonder your TBR pile doesn't get lower - eARCs ^^. I'm looking forward to this one. I heartedly hated the impotent heroine being handed around cluelessly between to powerful males in Shades of Dark - which is the only book of hers I haven't finished and plan to give away - but all was forgiven with Hope's Folly, where I enjoyed the fact that the hero was quite a bit older, but the heroine didn't feel and wasn't jailbait.

So yay for more Guthries! I think Sinclair does geeky/focussed, unsocial heroes extremely well - my favourites are in Finders, Keepers and Games of Command, with Accidental Goddess coming third.

It doesn't get lower because I AM WEAK! :) I am reading THE GODSTALKER CHRONICLES right now though.

SHADES OF DARK was the darkest Sinclair I think. This one gets back to the romance and fun rather than gritty complex problems. My favorite is FINDERS KEEPERS and GAMES OF COMMAND too. This one is probably in the range of HOPE'S FOLLY, but I really wanted the HEA to involve a proper talk between the Hero/Heroine.

Wouldn't you say that a book blooger needs to be weak to books per definition? ^^

I would, heh.

*crosses fingers that you're mostly enjoying yourself*

Thank you for sharing this review! Sinclair is hit or miss for me, but I liked the last Guthrie book, so I'll be checking this one out.

I'd say it comes close to the last Guthrie book except I wanted a less abrupt ending. I really wanted to see the Hero/Heroine talk out their issues some more at the end there. Anyway, I liked the hero a lot in this one.

I've still got to read one of her books. DOWN HOME ZOMBIE BLUES is just waiting on my shelf...
