I saw this book on Writerspace.com. I read an excerpt to decided whether to enter the contest, and I liked the excerpt. In the part I read he hadn't even met Miranda yet, it was the part where the mysterious (at the time) Frankie had told everyone to hold off on the hor'd'er...erbs (spelling issue) and everyone in the room was buzzed from the champagned cocktails....It looked promising to me,so i entered the contest. This isn't my usual book taste (I usually stick to urban fantasy) but once in a while I like to roam around.

I think you may like this one. Miranda is imperfect which is something you seem to be ok with, plus the city and the restaurant are written well.

Even though I get pissed off at characters doing bad things sometimes, I do enjoy imperfect characters. Kind of like people around. And yet I prefer to read Urban Fantasy to escape real life- how contrary is that?

My family (not me, just the rest of them) are obsesses with restaurant shows and food shows - which affects me because there's always something food related on tv (like right NOW).

I think I will like this book.

Miranda really frustrated me. Not because she was imperfect but because she never seemed to learn from earlier mistakes, staggering from one disaster to another without ever grasping the WHY of the problems at hand. Ultimately, I'm not sure I believe that she's finished exploiting others for her own advancement.

Having said that, I loved the food in the book and am interested in the sequel.

I felt like she did learn but then she went ahead and did it AGAIN just because she was upset about her brother. It was idiotic of her. It felt like the author had them get together too quickly so after that, conflict had to be created in order for the book to be interesting. I hope the next book has conflict which doesn't sacrifice my liking one of the halves of the primary relationship.
