Nice review. I quite enjoyed this one. I think your description of why Adam is the right choice for Mercy is really spot on. I'm curious to see where the series will go after this (even though the next book is not coming out until 2013!).

Yes, I have always liked him. And as a couple I think they complement each other.

What, 2013? I didn't know that! Well.. I guess the Alpha & Omega series will have a book out instead?

Yeah. In January 2012, Fair Game (the third A&O book) will come out. Mercy's 7th book isn't scheduled until spring of 2013. Last time I checked, it was kind of up in the air if Alpha and Omega series was going to finish up with Fair Game. I think she's contracted for 3 more Mercy books.

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this one, enough that makes me wonder if the overall quality of the series is slipping. Thoughts?

I wasn't really thinking that, I just felt like it has a different tone and pace, that I thought would be received differently depending on what you were looking for, but I did get a comment from Mike Briggs on my wordpress. He basically (I'm paraphrasing), said that this book didn't get the rewrites that other books have, due to the tightness of the schedule. It sounded like this was a concern, and is why the schedule for the next couple of books is slowed down. See above comments where the next Mercy comes out in 2013.

Huh. I'd thought that the quality started slipping when the spin-off series was added, so this does not surprise me. Cool of him to fess up, though!
