I know your thoughts lady! I think there are two scenarios where it could work though.
1) If this book was a bit different in that he was more sympathetic. Like doesn't go as far as he did/ realized he was doing something wrong (aka like Jordan's brother). 2) If somehow he realizes in prison how wrong he was. Learns some humility and turns around.
The second one.. I could see this working if done well. I'd like him to hit some sort of rock bottom and maybe the events at the end of A LOT LIKE LOVE could be it? Would have to get his POV where he's truly ashamed of himself and works from there into being a better man. I could see me liking this kind of story.

My husband has also noticed this dress when I was reading the book. Wants me to get one.
