What do doctors know, anyway?

My ultrasound-determined due date has come and gone. I tried to be good and patient and gave it a couple days before trying to take it upon myself to get things going. On Saturday I drank some castor oil (PSA: don't do this on an empty stomach). Sunday I exercised as much as I could - my feet greatly protest carrying around all this extra weight - ( Read more... )

Some swear by Kraft macaroni and cheese with A-1 sauce. I got desperate enough to try it, and damn, was it nasty.

Crossing fingers for the boy to come on out nao, plz.

Ew, yeah, I think I'd take castor oil again before mac & cheese with steak sauce. Bleh.

Question for you... about how much has your son cost, pre-natal and everything? My foster brother has knocked his wife up. I'm off the 'producing grandchildren' hook, but mom was wondering how much this will cost them. (Moron just graduated with his Masters and doesn't have a job. They only got married a few months ago. Moron.)

Medically, nothing. Our income is low enough that I qualify for Medi-Cal (state aid), and everything pregnancy-related was covered. What'll get you are the sneaky costs like how much the grocery bill will go up when buying diapers and wipes and extra food for a prego/nursing mom (we do _not_ qualify for food stamps, though. Why one and not the other? wtf). And then all the _stuff_, like baby clothes and burp cloths and a car seat and crib and other essentials, which are harder to pin down a solid dollar amount and also kind of depends on how savvy a bargain shopper you are and how many friends bring swag to your baby shower;).

Bottom line is, it probably varies from state to state so I'd start with your (his) Department of Human Assistance/Social Services/Welfare/etc. as they should have lots of literature about costs and options and applying for aid.

Haven't seen you around in a couple of days, which means either A) YAY! or B) you're avoiding the internet and people asking you for updates. Either way, I'm thinking about you and hope all is well!
