To add to the WTF-ery of the colossal FAIL at casting Narcissa, I found this picture of Patrick Stewart while looking for ones of Helen McCrory that might possibly convince me that she will be a decent Narcissa. I have no idea why he showed up in my search results. ((ETA: Ah, 'cause she was in this show with him))

I'm actually laughing at the "But she's not a blonde!!!11!" protests. Do they really think that's Jason Isaacs' hair? Granted, I was thinking more in the realm of Alexandra Moen (Lucy Saxon), but McCrory is more of an age to play Narcissa. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

"she's not a blonde" was my knee-jerk reaction, but I know that's easily fixable. Not so fixable are her dark eyes. And the fact she's not remotely pretty. And the fact she was supposed to be _Bellatrix_. The Black sisters are not interchangeable!

And yes, when I finally gave up the ghost and admitted that Nicole Kidman would never be Narcissa, I was voting for Alexandra Moen. Why oh why couldn't they have cast someone younger than the character? They seem to have absolutely no compunctions about casting people twenty years _older_...

"She's not pretty enough for the role" is a huuuge bugaboo for me, so sorry if this sounds defensive, but so what? If she can sell the role, her face doesn't matter that much. In full makeup, she might look more the part, contact lenses or no. (Please, though, no Jessica-Alba-as-Sue-Storm nonsense.) Have you actually seen her in anything that would convince you she's not a good enough actress for the part? Alexandra Moen may look like my mental image of Narcissa, but she's more believably Tom Felton's hot older sister than his mother. And truthfully, the fact that she was considered for Bellatrix doesn't bother me at all--it's part and parcel of being an actor that sometimes, the timing doesn't work out for one role, but if you're very lucky, you impressed the casting people enough that they'll consider you for another ( ... )

Because Wiki can describe it much better than I can: Spaghetti Western. It has sort of expanded to refer to cheesy westerns in general, whether or not they are produced/directed by Italians. And Patrick's costume there looked pretty cheesy to me, is what brought it up.
