"As you wil see, this is a trust exercise as well as a team exercise."

"Are they seriously having us play Truth or Dare?" Meryl whispered.

"It's a bonding exercise," Charlie said. "Teamwork is an important part of the figure-skating experience." He stared earnestly at the life coach who was addressing them.

"I'll tell him you're going first," said Meryl, and Charlie shot her a horrified look.

"And so by sharing our personal stories and challenging ourselves to new experiences, I think we'll all grow," the coach finished. "Who would like to begin?"

Tanith, sitting across the room, legs crossed, raised her hand. "Isn't this pretty much truth or dare?" she asked.

"This is an exercise in trust," the coach explained. "No one's going to be running around the building naked or making prank phone calls. We're just challenging ourselves to explore our personal goals and limits; the karaoke portion will help us learn more about each other.

Everyone stared at him; Charlie perked up. "That was a joke," the coach said. "Karaoke tested poorly when we tried this game in a classroom setting." No one laughed. The speaker looked slightly discouraged, but perked right up as an intern trudged in carrying a baseball cap. "Ah, now we can begin!" He tossed several evenly folded scraps of paper in the hat and handed it to Ben. "Would you like to begin?"

Ben pulled out a piece of paper, unfolded it, and read with great animation: "Share a story about what womanhood means to you."

Teambuilding lasted for three hours; by the end everyone knew way too much about Rockne's advice for new skaters, and just how bad Alex was at floral arrangements. Dinner was provided with a soundtrack of motivational speakers, but everyone ended up at Tanith's room that night.

"How'd you like that game of truth or dare?" Tanith asked. She and Meryl were on one bed, passing a beer back and forth.

"God, right?" Brooke said. "I can't believe I played truth or dare after high school."

"I don't think I'd played since middle school," said Meryl.

"I never even played it in middle school," said Charlie.

"That's too bad," said Evan. "I bet you would have been great with the eighth-grade ladies, once they got you started on seven minutes in heaven."

"I didn't say I never played spin the bottle." Evan raised his eyebrows. "I did!" Charlie protested. "I just made sure it always landed on my girlfriend."

"That's sweet," Tanith said. "In Canada, we didn't have truth or dare; we always played Catch the Beaver."

"Really?" asked Evan.

"Tell us more immediately," said Charlie.

"No," said Tanith. "We played truth or dare; it was Montreal, not the Northwest Territories. We even had cable." Evan mimed tears.

"I think those questions were even worse than middle school dares," said Brooke. "Some things, I never needed to know."

"So you'd rather see our partners running around the building topless than hear more of that junior's poetry about the how his soul is cold, like the ice? But slick, too, also like the ice?" Meryl asked. "I don't know; that's a close one." Tanith opened another beer and passed it to her. Meryl gave her a thank-you kiss on the cheek and took a deep swallow. The beer was magically colder than the one before; she kissed Tanith again.

"Who says we have to be the topless ones?" Charlie asked.

"Are you saying you'd turn down the dare?" said Meryl. "If you forfeit, you have to do truth."

"I forfeit to no one," Charlie said. "Not that we're really playing."

"Then I dare you," said Meryl. "Take off your shirt and streak through the lobby. Bring back a notice from the bulletin board to prove it."

"You've got it, my lady," said Charlie, yanking his shirt over his head.

"That means you get to ask someone else when you get back, White," Evan said. "Think about it while you're getting ogled by the juniors in the lounge."

"On your mark," said Tanith. "Get set, and go!" She followed to the doorway and winced as a thump came from the hallway.

"One junior pairs skater down," she said. "He just stopped to apologize - and he's down the stairs; how long will it take?"

"Rounding the curve," said Bates, "it's Charlie White in the lead, with his adoring fans keeping pace in his dust."

And Charlie tumbled back into the room, with an informational sheet about anti-doping in hand. He collapsed across Bates on the bed.

"Tanith," he said. "Truth or dare."

"Wait, you know the rules, right?" said Meryl. "You can't dare the same thing you just did."

"Dare," said Tanith. "But if you say kiss Meryl or Brooke, I can promise that I'll dare you guys to do the same thing."

"I'm up for that trade, dude," Evan told Charlie, wrapping an arm over his shoulders. "No homo."

"I'm just saying, I don't usually make out with girls for attention; it has to be fair."

"I dare you," Charlie paused dramatically and looked around the room, "to reenact Lysacek and Weir's James Bond routine from Champions on Ice. Both parts."

"White didn't go for the trade because he respects you," said Evan. "Although trust me, he's imag-" Charlie stopped him with a pillow to the face.

"I think," said Tanith. "that I need space for this one. Hallway?"

She grabbed a couple of blankets for costuming and swept out the door; everyone tumbled after her, and her imitation of Evan's flailing arms soon had them all in stitches. Meryl collapsed on the floor giggling, and Tanith dragged her back to the room when she was done, dropping her on the bed.

"Evan Bates!" Tanith said. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare," he said. "I always tell the truth anyway." He was standing in the doorway, everyone else behind him.

"Go ask for that life coach's phone number," she said.

"You want to ask him out?" Evan asked.

"No, for you." Tanith perched next to Meryl on the bed. "With witnesses."

He turned around in the doorway, saluting, and led the crowd over to the mentors' wing.

Tanith lay down and rested her head on Meryl's stomach. Meryl shifted to a more comfortable position; Tanith ran her fingers down her arm. "So, no one tried to get us to make out."

"I don't know, should we feel insulted?" Meryl said.

"I don't kiss girls for attention," Tanith said again. She raised one leg and pointed her toe, stretching into it and then relaxing.

"Depends whose attention," Meryl said. "For me."

"I didn't think you were the Girls Gone Wild type," Tanith said. Meryl raised an eyebrow.

"I was trying to hit on this girl last year, and she just wouldn't believe I wasn't straight."

"So you kissed her?" asked Tanith. She sat up a little bit.

Meryl grinned. "No, I kissed her ex-girlfriend in front of her."

"Really," said Tanith. Their fingers had gotten twined together at some point; Meryl rubbed the back of Tanith's hand with her thumb.

"The ex was way better in bed. It turned out." Tanith turned to look at her, and she was pretty sure she was blushing.

"Aren't they always," Tanith sighed and took a swig of beer, then moved the bottle to the far side of the nightstand. "Truth or dare."

"Truth," said Meryl.

"How much time do you think we have before Evan figures out that the life coach flew back to Santa Fe?"

"Maybe they'll follow him to the airport!" Meryl said. "I don't think he'd give up that easily." Tanith grinned and moved their hands to Meryl's waist, her fingers warm where Meryl's shirt had ridden up. Meryl pushed herself up and leaned forward to kiss Tanith; the angle was awkward so she kissed her neck first, gently in a couple of places and then sucking harder when Tanith moaned. She pulled them down to the bed, and their lips collided too hard, but Meryl didn't back off, just moved for a better angle and kissed Tanith again and again and god, why had they waited so long to do this? She worked one thigh between Tanith's legs and Tanith rocked against her.

"Fuck," said Tanith. "We won't need long." Meryl grinned and arched up. Tanith groaned and buried her head in Meryl's shoulder, pushing her hands up her shirt and working one back towards the clasp of her bra. She kissed across Meryl's collarbone and had her bra unfastened and pushed out of the way; her thumb circled Meryl's nipple and then her mouth was there and Meryl couldn't focus on anything else.

Meryl yanked her back up after a little bit and kissed her roughly, then reached down to rub hard over the seam of Tanith's yoga pants. She pulled the drawstring loose and slipped her hand inside the waistband until Tanith moaned.

She stopped and sucked on her fingers, making a show of it as Tanith watched, then reached back down and pushed aside Tanith's panties. She felt how wet Tanith was as she pushed in, and she held her fingers almost still for a moment as Tanith moved against her. She pressed a kiss to Tanith's neck, then added another finger and thrust in and out faster. Tanith sped up, trying to kiss her again as she rocked up and down, then pulled back and came with a gasp, tightening around Meryl's fingers.

Tanith relaxed but didn't slow down. She grabbed Meryl's hand and sucked her fingers one by one, spending longer on each one and focusing all of her attention on Meryl's reactions. She pushed Meryl's shirt farther up.

"Wait, if they come back-" Meryl said. Tanith sat partway up, and Meryl yanked her back down.

Tanith kissed her again. "One way to be sure no one will walk in on us," she said.

The next thing Meryl knew, Tanith had her flat against the door. There had been the sound of the desk chair getting knocked over, and then the deadbolt clicking, and Tanith's whole body was pressed against her. Meryl wrapped a leg tight around her waist, trying to get some friction at the right angle, and they were missing each other's mouths half the time, pressing kisses to jaws and necks. Tanith pushed Meryl's shirt up and finally her mouth was back on Meryl's nipples and doing amazing things. Meryl tightened her hand on the back of Tanith's neck.

"Your breasts are so fucking gorgeous," Tanith said. "I could do this forever." Meredith was about to tell her how much she approved of this idea, but then Tanith scraped her teeth across in just the right place and she could only moan. Tanith froze.

"Please don't stop," said Meryl, but then she heard the voices and footsteps approaching in the hallway. "Just - don't stop, they can wait." She kissed the top of Tanith's head and held her tight against her chest. The voices were right outside. Tanith sucked hard on her nipple; her mouth felt really good and Meryl bit her lip but couldn't keep from moaning a little. The footsteps passed on by down the hall.

Tanith's hand had moved down at some point, and she started to unfasten Meryl's jeans. Meryl leaned back against the door as Tanith dropped to her knees and pushed Meryl's jeans and underwear down past her hips.

"Dare me?" said Tanith, and Meryl felt her breath on her belly.

"Jesus Christ, goodness yes," said Meryl. Tanith looked up at her and waited, hands on Meryl's hips, rubbing her hipbone with one thumb. It took Meryl a second to catch her breath. "I dare you to start doing something with your mouth right this fucking - oh, god," she said, as Tanith went straight to her clit, licking and sucking and holding Meryl's hips still against the door. Meryl wasn't sure she would have stayed up without Tanith's arm braced across her; she steadied herself with one hand on the doorknob and kept the other on Tanith's neck, running her fingers through her hair and pushing harder as she got closer.

"I dare - fingers - yes, there," she said. She tried to push back, but Tanith was holding her still and thrusting faster now, circling Meryl's clit with her tongue and then sucking harder, and the orgasm hit ridiculously soon. Meryl was shaking and hit her hip on the doorknob - that would bruise - and she sank down to the floor, eyes closed. Tanith settled in Meryl's lap and leaned their foreheads together. She stroked Meryl's arm, her neck, her side, slower and slower, gentler and gentler.

"Hi," she said.

"Hi," said Meryl. She sighed happily as Tanith started rubbing her neck. "So, what can we dare them next? Do you think they'd go on a scavenger hunt?"

"Item one," said Tanith. "A tastefully sequined onesie."

"Two: a picture of Scott Hamilton riding a moped." She reached for her shirt.

"Three: Evan Lysacek's humility."

"That might give us long enough," Meryl giggled, and the floor was getting uncomfortable so she pulled Tanith back to the bed.
