Totally agree with you on this. Love, love, love this story. Excellent characterization and the premise actually makes sense! Of course Harry would choose the lesser of two evils: at least John is human and thinks like a human, unlike Mab.
I'm hoping that there will be a sequel.

This one was definitely a blast and it got me hooked on Harry/Marcone, which I hadn't really gotten into before. Expect to see more Dresden Files recs soon (possibly tomorrow)

Is this a story I can understand without knowing the canon?

Honestly, I think it might be difficult, since it's assumed you know all of the (zillion or so) characters in the Dresden universe and because it heavily references one of the books. It's been a while since I read the books and I had to muddle through sections of the fic.

That said, The Dresden Files novels are *awesome*, if you'd like to give the canon a try.
