Snow certainly does make it more festive. Our part of England (North West) is reasonably lucky and doesn't get as much as some areas (Scotland etc) but we got a fair amount. The thing you have to worry about is the ice - Mum has been banned from going out in the car, or walking anywhere on her own by me and my sister :-D She's too precious to have broken bones!
