You should snag it! Looking forward to reading your answers. :)
And yeah, I'm not a huge fan of roses! They're beautiful, no doubt, but I don't really like the smell, especially as they start to wilt. Plus, the red ones have turned into a total cliche -- I prefer white ones.
I thought of that image, too: it's perfect for capturing the essence of love/romance. ...Oh, The Philadelphia Story! So wonderful! ...I, too, am too much like Mr. Darcy to find him romantically interesting. In the Jane Austen universe, I'm a Catherine Morland or a Georgiana Darcy (with a few learned Elizabeth Bennet behaviors), so I'm looking for much the same sort of fellow you are. And yay for Seeley Booth! :D ...What an awesome Valentine's gift idea! I didn't even think of that, but it's sweet and personal and perfect. And I'm not much of a fan of roses either. (Unless they're the apple blossom sort of rose. Or cream or white in color.) ...Oh, Matthew Goode. ::drools:: He's ridiculously lovely. ...You can view your dismembered St. Valentine as a personal Valentine's card, if you like. No poem or message inside, but he's all yours. If you want 'im. ;) ...I approve your traits, wholeheartedly! ...And a vineyard is beautifully romantic, especially with the wine and the sunlight. Sigh.
In the Jane Austen 'verse, I identify most with the quieter heroines like Elinor Dashwood and Anne Elliot. And Mr. Darcy, as mentioned! I'm shy and socially awkward like he is. :)
Did you see "Leap Year"? Matthew Goode is really shockingly good-looking in it. It's a cute movie overall, too -- I have a total girl crush on Amy Adams!
I will view the dismembered St. Valentine as a personal card! I'm sure it will be the most unique and creative Valentine card I ever receive!
Aw, I'm sure you'll receive more creative and unique cards in the future---from the fellow-you-love, one hopes---but Mr. Dismembered St. Valentine will work as a stand-in in the meantime. :) And, yes, I *love* Leap Year! It's not perfect, but it has a sweetness and cleverness that a lot of romantic comedies lack these days. (And a shockingly good looking Matthew Goode certainly helps. How is it that Amy Adams gets to star with all the fellows I find beautiful? So unfair....)
You do make a delightful Elinor Dashwood and Anne Elliot, I have to admit. I think part of the fun of reading Jane Austen is choosing who you'd be if you were one of her heroines. And then imagining your romantic life as lived via those characters. Do you feel romantically drawn to Edward Ferrars or Captain Wentworth at all? As I've mentioned, I'd marry Henry Tilney in a heartbeat. And while Georgiana Darcy isn't part of a romantic pair, the man that she's sort of matched with in Pamela Aiden's Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman trilogy is perfect for me.
I could definitely go for Captain Wentworth, but I'm not entirely convinced about Edward Ferrars. He seems a bit dull at times, although he can be humorous too -- and he definitely has a strong sense of honor, which is a plus! I completely support the Tilney love as well. :) And ooh! I love Georgiana's admirer in Pamela Aidan's books! I remember wishing that that romance had been developed more.
