That level of ignorance might have been understandable (might, I said might) back in the 80s, but anyone with Google and an open mind...
Mind you, these days I jib at explaining myself even to people I know... so I'm probably not the right person to talk about open minds :)

The thing is, wordcount is standard in pretty much every header, and they say they've been hanging out at fanfic.net; oodles of epics there; how can they think longer fics aren't common?
They're stupid.
I'm not going near them in case it's catching.
