all my life i've had recurring dreams about being in a house (usually one of about three rotating fictional houses), and suddenly discovering a secret passage, or stairwell, or room. this kind of dream probably isn't that uncommon, and even less so for me given my fascination with architecture

Weird! I remember living at D'Arcy street for more than a year before finding out there was a small room / giant cupboard behind one of the panels on the stairs, a la Harry Potter. It's such a bizarre feeling.
