frodo_lad is a fortnight old today. He seems to be thriving, although he has developed the same flaky skin at wrists and ankles that prince_eldarion had when he was born, and somewhat dry skin in general, so now we are oiling him with extra virgin olive oil ;-) He also has gungy eyes, but these are apparently probably due to blocked tear ducts rather than an infection, so ( Read more... )

Haven't read the whole post, but gungy eye: NQ had one. My MW recommended using breastmilk on cotton wool to wipe the eye and Amalion recommended squirting breastmilk into the eye. Worked a treat with NQ ( ... )

My experience of parenting has been that things do indeed pass by frustratingly quickly at times, and while it's nice to try to preserve memories and artifacts if you've got the time & energy, it's more important to LIVE. On the subject of structured play is there a Montessori nursery near you? My eldest niece went to one for a while in the States and her parents were very impressed by the way everything was structured to give a bit more depth than just random play. I don't know if they are all like this but it might be worth checking out.

*Big hugs* What a lot of changes! I hope your "blues" and assorted initials of things I'm not entrely sure about get better soon.

El sounds like he is being perfectly normal. Your telling him how lucky he is to be a big brother sounds like a great way to reduce some of the rivalry that will happen (I've never heard of any way to avoid it.)
