Oh buoy!

Buoy: what a weird-ass word. And it just gets weirder every time I type it.

And I've had to type it a lot in relation to the National Data Buoy Center.

Then I got to a page that had "French Buoy" written on it and I snickered because it sounded like something dirty. I have clearly lost my mind.

I LOVED this post! It's librarian humor at its finest.

I remember when a co-worker and I had to do original cataloging for a collection of documents about deer management in Maryland. Our first task was to gather similar cataloging records that we could use as templates. We were finding books about massive rat outbreaks in New York City in the '30s, prarie dog infestations on farms out west, etc., etc. Some of the stuff we found had such funny titles. I guess you had to be there, but it was one of those times that we were just laughing uncontrollably at every little thing. I think the topic was so unfunny that it was funny. Do you know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean and I'm so glad you got the tone of my post. You totally understand what it's like to lose one's mind librarian-style.
