I can only make out about one word in ten, but it's still very exciting and squee-worthy (I am fairly certain she is NOT saying, "Kenshin, if you take one step outside those gates, I will beat you senseless with this parasol," but I can imagine it ( Read more... )

According to what the uploader found floating about, the umbrella scene is this:

Kenshin: The man we met yesterday... must be after me. I can’t have you involved in this. You must have already realised…that I am a Hitokiri-

Kaoru: I don’t care about it. We all have things in our past we don’t want to talk about.

Wow, depending on where in the overall storyline that dialogue shows up, that could represent a significant change.

Although it is kind of baffling at any point for Kenshin to say, "You must have already realised that I am a Hitokiri"... I mean, canon-wise, there really isn't a point between, "whoops, sorry, you are a harmless and goofy Rurouni-type" and "hey, you just took down a roomful of thugs with lightning speed and then explained that the Hitokiri Battousai used a specific and ancient sword-style known for lightning speed, after which Gohei got a clue about your scar." Kaoru doesn't really have a period of thinking, "Hey, I wonder if Kenshin might be a (former) Hitokiri"

(also, anytime Kaoru says something about "everybody" having things in their past they don't like to talk about, "The Spy and the Hitokiri" fanfic jumps up and waves its arms around with a big grin)

There certainly would be some changes, given that they're truncating several points - Kanryuu, Jineh, Saitou - into 1.5 hours-ish. Heck, it'd fall under Pragmatic Adaptation on TVTropes. Mind, that might not be an exact translation, plus we're missing context on the scene that leads up to that exchange. So I think we're going have to wait till DVD/BD release, which won't be until, oh, MAYBE DECEMBER OR JANUARY 2013. The ANTICIPATION. XP
