I think I need to think about writing a To-Do-List ... :P

So, turns out I got an A on History of English - thank God it's over :D! I'd been putting that exam off for aaaaages! And then it turned out that it wasn't that hard anyway xD! Life can be strange sometimes - especially life at uni, I get the impression ( Read more... )

Congrats and good luck on the rest that's still lying ahead!

You nearly killed me with the sweetness of that kitten, by the way.

Congratulations on doing so well in your exam. \0/

I must admit I find the history of languages to be a fascinating subject (possibly due to imprinting on Tolkien at a relatively early age) but they won't let you study it if you're not good at actually learning languages, which unfortunately I'm not. :-(

The kitten is adorable. :-)

Thank you <3! I think it's fascinating too! Just not when I have to study for it :P! But there are some rather amazing things about language change and the mechanics behind it, I absolutely agree! It's so unfortuante that they won't allow you to study it though! I don't think you should be required to be good at languages for that :/! Language theory, like for Old English or Middle English, is a whole lot different from studying a modern language in my opinion!

To be fair, I never really tried... but when I was at University, back in the dark ages ;-), you picked one subject and all your courses had to relate to it - so studying linguistics pretty much only went with studying languages.

I might have managed it by studying English but then I would have had to read lots of modern literary fiction, which is also really not my thing.

Still, I've enjoyed reading about the subject since, so I don't feel that hard done by really.

Aww, that's a shame! At our university it's a requirement that you have to do things that don't relate to the things you're studying - that's why I need to do Japanese as well this semester D:

You seem to have found a good solution though :D! *high fives you*

(Psst, sorry for the very late reply by the way - uni kind of got in my way :/!)
