ITV hospital drama called A&E, starring Martin Shaw, Michael Kitchen and Niamh Cusack. It was rather good, but sadly doesn't seem to be on DVD. James was in one series of it as a young doctor. Oddly, I remember one of the episodes very clearly where he and MS confront a gunman.

Just checked it on imdb, and it only shows James in one ep - was he in the entire series?
