I wouldn't dream of banning the Bible. It has some good bits. It also has a fair few bad bits, lots of bits that are irrelevant in today's world (but were probably relevant for Bronze Age Jews) and lots and lots of just flat-out insane bits, like the part where the prophet Elijah causes some children to be eaten by bears for calling him a baldy. This is actually true.
Besides, if there was no Bible I'd have to find something productive to rant about. :-)
Anyway, on the topic: I pretty much agree with GNeil for his stated reasons. Being a person very much in favour of freedom of speech in general and a vociferous advocate of the notion that nobody has a right not to be offended (which makes the recent adopting of an anti-offensiveness resolution by the UN, led by that most free and liberal of nations, Saudi Arabia, frankly terrifying, and these brackets have gone on far too long and I have used many too many commas) makes me right down on Voltaire's side of the argument.
