I'm NOT gonna die after all!

Regarding this post with my cool new spider photo:
Thanks to mantispid in spiderphotos who was kind enough to ID my friend as a male Crevice Spider (photo) and reassure me I wasn't going to die after several people said this was a Brown Recluse.

I decided to skip the Tampa M&G today, I'm staying home to edit & MAYBE catch up on a WEEK'S worth of LJ.

Even if it HAD been a brown recluse and it HAD bitten you, you wouldn't be bloody likely to die. You might lose the limb but ONLY if you never got any medical attention for it.

My daughter was bitten several years ago in her sleep by a brown recluse (they love to hunt at night) on the spot where the hip joins the buttocks. She got really sick because she didn't know what it was and the 'bite' burst, releasing some toxins into her system but she didn't come close to dying and it healed up really nicely once the doctor got a look at it and started treating it.
