This is not my favorite day of the year because it reminds me that I am a lonely man. If one should take a look at the love poems that I have written over the years, they would see that they are mostly filled with sorrow. The following poem is one of the very few that is actually uplifting and was written seventeen years ago.
I hate leaves For there are so many this year I hate raking leaves But at least I am getting my exercise I hate the dry smell of leaves And I hate the feel of them when they are wet I hate bagging the leaves And waiting for them to be picked up I hate leaves For I know winter is around the corner
