Last year Germany won the Eurovision song contest with a very simple, catchy song sung by a pretty girl in a simple black dress in the most understated stage setting ever. There were hardly any lights on and frankly I think they even forgot about the wind machine. What is this world coming to?! The result of this is that the big four have not only ( Read more... )

Yup, all I could think while the doctors were working away and the anesthesiologist was standing next to my head (the only part of my body I could still move) was "Beograd! Beograd! Balkan balkan balkan! Ovo je balkan!!! Come on!! Ho ho ho ho!" Mighty confusing I can tell you... And I feared I'd have to name Bas "Milan".

Speaking of S&M gear. There are four Blues right? Which leaves space on stage for two of those dancers. Which I fear could go horribly, horribly wrong.

If they've got any sense they're taking backing vocalists :-)
Or male dancers.

Yeah, I thought you'd get the reference. I asked the wife "was it jelly? It was jelly right?" and she didn't even look up from her book, just went "ask littlemoose, she'll know". :-)

It was jelly and ice cream *g*

*laughs and waves at weetniet*

I've not listened to everything yet, but I'm still rooting for The Netherlands, I think...

Isn't it a disgrace. I've never been and it's what... two hours away by train?
The wife isn't keen on it.

I live approximately 30 hours away and I've been to Paris. Five times.

You've never been to Paris?!? But... it's pretty! And has pretty buildings! And museums! And stuff! (and heaps of dog poo everywhere, granted.)

You've been to Amsterdam right? Cologne? Berlin? Copenhagen? London?

Amsterdam. Berlin. Cologne long long ago. London about 5 times. But not Paris, no.

All those French people! ;-)

But wait a minute. Aren't some of those people at the Spanish party dressed as former Eurovision Participants? I'm pressy sure I saw Spain's guy from last year, Verka Serduchka, DQ/Drama Queen, Texas Lightning and DJ BoBo.

oooh excellent! Hadn't noticed that. The penguins could be a reference to "papa penguin" then.

Having only been a Take That fan for the last month and a half, I'm very proud of myself for getting the jelly reference. :)

The French video just doesn't match the song at all! It looks like it was made for Finland's song.

And I can't help it, I'm still hopelessly smitten by Lena.

LOL Yay! Congrats!

I didn't notice it last year, had other things on my mind, but yes... Lena can drop by anytime :-)

I can't believe you let something as trivial as the birth of your son stand in the way of the gloriousness that is Lena. :) You're lucky you're getting another chance this year.
