I used to have one of those cameras expressly for formatting floppy disks. They were insanely fast compared to any PC drives I had. The CCD had died in the one I had, so floppy formatting was all it was any good for. Now I rarely use floppy disks, and when I do use them it is in computers that can't read DOS format disks anyway.
I've still got a pair of 3.2MB ("ED") floppy drives. One even worked last time I tried using it. I have some ED media knocking around too but I'm not sure I'd trust anything important to floppy disks over a decade old...
