More SG-1?

Has anyone heard anything about or listened to these audio episodes of Stargate SG-1? They sound intriguing and I'd like to support the effort if they are any good. You can never have enough SG-1.

Continuum has reignited my love for SG-1. I bought the DVD and loved the extras on it. I especially liked the commentary by Martin Wood and Brad Wright ( Read more... )

The Big Finish Doctor Who audios are excellent, so I'd be surprised if their SG-1 audios weren't just as well done.

Great! Thanks! I was hoping they would be good. I'm missing my show.

I've listened to all of them to date, and I am chomping at the bit (champing? Either way) for Teryl's. An hour of just listening to that voice? Yes, please. :D They're good, I think! So far I think Claudia Black's has been the best (because it was her and Michael Shanks rather than Some Extra Actor). The actors really seem to give the audio books their all, which is nice. It's very easy to put aside "Oh, it's an actor reading a script" and feel like it's just a character doing a monologue.

If the story doesn't grab you, there's always the joy of hearing your favorite actor impersonate their coworkers. I don't know which I like best, Michael Shanks playing O'Neill and Hammond, or Claudia Black doing Colonel Mitchell (although in context, it was Vala saying something Mitchell had said, but still. Impersonating :D).

They may not reignite your love the way Continuum did (and really, how AWESOME was that?), but it might help you get a fix. :D ( ... )

Thanks for the review, Geonn. Did you get the CD's or download them? Are the extra's on the CD's worth the extra money?

I was thinking about getting Claudia's and Teryl's, so I'm glad to hear you thought Claudia's was the best one so far.

No problem! I should really do a write-up in my LJ about them. As for how I got them: Someone sent me copies of their downloads, so I don't know about how much better it is to get the actual CD. I DO know that I'm definitely paying extra to get the Teryl version on official CD. Artwork and everything. :D

I think, other than the official case and artwork, everything on the CD is available in the download. I get the artwork as a jpg. The only other extras are interviews. Torri and Paul give interviews (about six minutes each, the last track on the disc) and the very first one had a preview of Torri's audio.

I would say there's very little difference between the official CD and the download. If you have to make a choice and don't mind not having a case with artwork to put it in, save some cash. :D

Claudia really made her story come to life. And her banter with Michael was great. :D
