Fake TV Show- The Quatermain Society

Mar 25, 2011 18:48

Okay, so this lurvely little meme came from the equally lurvely seren_ccd  and I couldn't resist. So here's the meme itself:

"Basically, you guys give me seven (7) actors/actresses and I'll come up with a television show for them. I'll give a blurb and character descriptions. In return, I'll give you seven actors/actresses and you do the same!"

She gave me some great picks, so I decided to go a little, um, out there. As is my way. ;)

Without further ado: The Quatermain Society

Billionaire and philanthropist James Miller was famous for his larger -than-life personality. From scaling Everest to kayaking the Amazon to landing a beautiful bride half his age, his exploits were nearly as legendary as his extensive collection of historical artifacts. But when James disappeared in Belize three years ago, his younger brother- and lifetime rival- Simon MIller discovered the truth: James hadn't just been collecting precious objets d'art, he'd been selling them to the highest bidder. And some of those pieces were far more dangerous and powerful than James had ever guessed.

Funded by James's widow, Bryony Miller, Simon forms a team to track down the artifacts James sold, hoping that they might track down James in the bargain. Of course what Simon will do once he finds James is still up in the air...

Simon Miller (David Tennant) grew up in the shadow of his older brother, James. Bookish and brilliant where James was rakish and bold, Simon made a name for himself as a history professor at Oxford. When his brother disappears, Simon forms the Quatermain Society in an attempt to right James's wrongs. The unlikely father figure for a group of misfits, Simon struggles with both James's legacy and his desire for James's lovely wife, Bryony.

Bryony Miller (Kate Winslet) was barely twenty when she married James, and quickly realized she was more in love with the idea of him than with the man himself. Still, she turned herself into the perfect wife and the perfect stepmother for James's daughter, Geneva. She also made a  habit of ignoring the flutters in her stomach whenever she saw Simon. Now that James is gone and Bryony is working with her husband's brother, she hopes she can finally make her own mark on the world.  She also hopes that Simon can find James. Or at least that's what she tells herself.

Geneva Miller (Karen Gillan) may have been married twice by the time she was 22, but hey, who hasn't been?  A socialite and tabloid fixture, Geneva was perfectly happy living a life that consisted of little more than titled men and unpronounceable designers. But when her father disappears, she wants to help and joins the Quatermain Society expecting to make a few phone calls, maybe file the odd folder. What she did not have in mind was using her social cache to break into some of the most exclusive homes in the world. Also not expected? The almost palpable pull she feels towards the insufferable Adam "Mac" McKade. As though she could be attracted to any man who calls her "Princess!"

Adam "Mac" McKade (Chris Pine) knows what his role in the Quatermain Society is- he's the Brawn to all that Brain. And sure, maybe he has some brain of his own, but that's not what Simon Miller is paying him for. No, Mac is content to break down the occasional door, threaten the random toady... all in a day's work. Mac has spent his whole life looking out for Number One, and he definitely doesn't have time for spoiled princesses who are more suited for dancing on tables in St. Tropez than they are breaking into museums. And what do you mean, he's always had a weakness for redheads?

Declan Murphy (Robert Sheehan) had one goal in mind when he agreed to join the Quatermain Society: Getting into the undoubtedly lovely knickers of the ridiculously lovely Geneva Miller. True, there was something satisfying about finally using all those lock-picking skills he'd acquired growing up in Belfast. And yes, even he could admit that trekking through Central American jungles was better than any Gap Year. Still, eyes on the prize, and that prize is Geneva. It certainly isn't that mousy little bookworm, Emma Callahan. That night in Havana was a fluke. Damn mojitos...

Emma Callahan (Alison Brie) was Professor Miller's best student at Oxford, and she was  honored to be asked to be part of the Quatermain Society. Of course her acceptance had nothing to do with being close to Simon. A child prodigy who graduated high school at 14, went to UCLA at 15, and was at Oxford by 17, Emma has spent her whole life feeling slightly...different. The Quatermain Society is the first place she's ever belonged. With a Ph.D in archeology (not to mention a Master's in anthropology, another in history, and more undergraduate degrees than she'd care to name), Emma is one of the most valuable members of the team.  And do not bring up The Havana Incident. No one can be held responsible for her actions when rum and an Irish accent are involved.

Jackson Hart (Donald Glover) is the team's resident tech expert. Emma recommended him for the job seeing as how they'd been friends since UCLA. And it was so sweet how he followed her to Oxford! And also Yale. Oh, and Duke after that. Hopelessly in love with Emma, Jackson hopes to prove that he's worth a lot more than that Irish pretty boy Declan, or the ever-so-stereotypically dreamy professor, Simon. His genius inventions have saved the Quatermain Society more times than he can count. Geneva Miller could also tell you he's not a bad kisser, but then the Christmas Party of 2010 is something everyone tries not to talk about.

So there you have it! Adventure, hi-jinks, and more romantic entanglements than a soap opera! ;-)

Thanks SO MUCH to for starting this fun seren_ccd ! I kinda want to write this now...
