I don't think that's what he was trying to say though. He didn't contrast Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, and he didn't mention Bill O'Reilly once!
Where is the part that I misquoted? I didn't misquote, however I did quote, rather than taking the entire thing this person said verbatim. Even in the context that I quoted him though, I haven't skewed the meaning of what he said. And I'm sorry, but I still don't see how he is talking about the Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas controversy. He is talking about how this holiday no longer has a religious affiliation, not about how people are in an uproar over how to greet people during the season. And today even, his away message says "oh, looks like presentsmas has come and past... hope you all had a wonderful time". Now I know you want to back up your friend, and that's respectable and understandable, but I think that this further supports my point that he thinks the real meaning of Christmas has been lost and that it has become a commercial holiday.
You don't have to mention the Billster to be talking about that whole debate, he's just a typical latcher-on that uses the supposed "war on Christmas" to get viewers. I read his message as well, and I thought the same thing Pouty did. I can see to an extent where you would be confused, but it seemed to me the only thing he could be talking about is the Happy Holidays debate. The only way to know would be to go straight to the source though, and ask the person with the away message is in question.

First time caller, long time listener.
I'm flatered that you'd talk about me for so long. The first away message involving holidays with out an affiliation was meant just as pouty and lehmann said. I work for the big W and we need to not bring religion or anything else into holidays.. after a few days of it, I got frustrated and put that in the message.
The second one that I was quoted as saying, was meant as a joke after reading this ridiculous livejournal. (I was directed towards it)
In all reality though, Christmas has turned into a strictly profitable holiday. This is the one day of the year that people can go to church and feel like they are celebrating it for Jesus' sake.
