This is the kind of big power ballad you would expect from a talent show contestant, and Sevak loves talent shows. He is a mentor on The Voice of Armenia after winning X-Factor Ukraine. He has also competed on The Voice of Russia and X-Factor Russia. It is almost at the point where you cannot go to Eurovision without having competed on some talent show.
This is a moody pop song and it is probably one of the better songs in this year’s contest, however the bookmakers think this is a borderline qualifier. This song is hamstrung though by being in the wrong semi. Sevak is popular in Russia and Ukraine who are both in the other semi, as is Georgia who traditionally also give points to Armenia. Greece is the only country in the first semi that is likely to give Armenia any points, even if they are just political points due their mutual dislike of Turkey.
Maybe Sevak thinks he was destined to be on Eurovision. On Ukrainian X-Factor in 2016 he performed the 2007 Eurovision sinning song from Serbia Молитва (Molitva) Marija Šerifović did it better
Armenia are not a favourite this year but in 2014 they went into the contest as a highly favoured entry and finished 4th. This year won’t get near that equal best finish for Armenia
