On why Zutara is > than Kataang/Maiko, even though Kataang/Maiko is more canon and whatnot.

Mind you, I'm not really trying to bash anyone except for the fact that we all know Zutara is made of sexytiems and lulz and the other ships are not.  I'm a student of psychology.  This stuff interests me.

It makes perfect sense, and furthermore, I agree. And I will admit that I have been a shameless Zutara shipper since The Waterbending Scroll simply because I fell in love with my husband in high school when he found a treasured necklace I had lost and returned it to me. Thus, I relate to Katara.

You make interesting points. I don't know if I buy it totally, because I do thing there is an element of random chance involved, but girls relating to Katara and then wanting Zuko makes a lot of sense.

From a developmental perspective, I also find a relationship between a sixteen-year-old boy and a fourteen-year-old girl a heck of a lot more realistic and palatable than a relationship between a fourteen-year-old girl and a twelve-year-old boy, esp. when that girl has exhibited a mostly platonic and strong maternal streak toward the twelve-year-old. (Ick.)

About the aang/katara kiss: I think they really did mis-portray Katara there...I mean what could possibly be stopping her if she does like him? worry that they won't work?

They get along well and haven't fought or bickered in quite a while, so it shouldn't be worry that they would have issues. So the most oblivious answer is she is questioning her feelings.
