The Book was about a human that was captured on a planet somewhere, that was inhabited by intelligent Apes. The theme was his attempts to convince the Apes that he was an intelligent being.

One of the very few SciFi books not written by Bradbury or Clark that was worth reading for anything but escapism, IMO, of course
