But then again, perhaps Holmes just watched too closely over his Boswell to let anything happen to him. If that was the case, I can understand even better why he was so horrified in 3GAR...

But I primarily discuss the difference by writing Sherlock fanfic (even the cracky stuff sometimes. hehe)...because fanfiction is, in my opinion, criticism lite. :-D

But yes, we fanfic writers tend to show what is written between the lines more openly. After all, what is fanfiction about other than placing our characters in situations that show parts of their character only hinted at in canon! And, after all, any of those adaptations, including BBC!Sherlock, are just another form of fanfic.
