OK, so I'm working on this project that involves doing a really lame and repetetive task that a monkey could do. I jokingly asked my boss earlier today if we could maybe hire a monkey to do it, because this task was sucking my will to live. I even volunteered to clean up the poo the monkey was bound to fling when it got as bored with the project

I'm totally not lying. My boss was mortified...I mean, I'm sure the poor woman just wanted to earn a living, but WHY OH WHY would the temp agency send her to do a job she clearly COULD NOT DO??? Boss said she sat the puter pecking away with her one finger until he got up the nerve to call the temp agency to tell them that it wasn't going to work out.

Ignoring the illogic of the new hire and leaving you with some questions;

1) Why unzip the file?

2) Why not hire someone to write a routine automate the strip/saving of the attachment from your email? I'd think a decent programmer could knock fairly quickly.

1. Because the zipped files are compressed text of call detail that I need to mine data from, which can only be done by opening it in Monarch in text format
