Squidiom poll

Apr 10, 2009 17:51

Native English speakers only, please:

Poll Squidiom

Take the poll before continuing :)

This is an iteration of ratatosk's poll in this entry. I'm presenting the choices in a different order to reduce bias, and increasing the overall sample size.

Mostly though, I just like squid, particularly those with the aforementioned characteristics.

I think the last three words should be "giant flying squid".

Hm. This is the value of having people edit your polls before posting them. Sadly I am usually too impatient for that. :P

The person I talked to when this arose agreed that it was one of those three options -- but apparently I should have gotten a second opinion. :)

Well, honestly I wouldn't string those words together in the first place - I think it's a somewhat awkward construction in any form.

I agree with stolen_tea though, "giant flying squid" is an improvement.

When "giant flying squid" is an improvement, you know your life is in SERIOUS danger.

The females in the room said #2, the males said #3.

Is the luminescence nocturnal, or is the squid nocturnal?

Perhaps you should arrange the adjectives in alphabetical order:

Beautiful Flying Giant Luminescent Nocturnal Squid

Although I personally like

Beautiful Luminescent Nocturnal Flying Giant Squid
or
Beautiful Luminescent Nocturnal Giant Flying Squid

The first one. It has cadence; neither of the others do.

I think #2 both sounds the best and makes the most sense because it seems that it would be the "luminescent" part that would be the biggest reason it would be beautiful, not the nocturnal" part (even though that would make the luminescence easier to see, and also not forgetting that the "flying" part could also be pretty).
