I'm guessing that the medical electricity book had something to do with a TENS unit? Or did it not say?

I have no idea, I'm afraid - it was just the cover on ebay! My guess was an early TENS unit (is 1946 early for that?) but I just loved the title :)

I looked into it (because I love the title too and find it interesting!) and while the TENS unit as we know it wasn't quite around, using electricity as a pain relief has been popular for awhile it seems. I'm always amazed we have as many inventions as we do given the propensity of our forerunners to do seriously stupid stuff ;-). It's clearly a Darwinian thing!
