Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox

GOD DAMNIT ARTEMIS.

That pretty sums up my feelings about the whole book, as penguinkye will testify.  I loved it, obviously.  It was a lot like the last one in terms of last-minute wait-what-the-hell-oh-God-no-you-can't-be-serious plot twists (and not too last minute, I mean I could physically see how much more of the book there was to go, but ( Read more... )

I've read the first three. Skipped your spoilers, but still concerned about your "GOD DAMNIT" nonetheless.

Ooooooooh, you should read the next three. Really really really. If only to be able to make fun of me for my reaction to this sixth one. (Come on, do you need a better incentive?) And none of this "I have Moby Dick next on the line" business. These books take, like, two hours to read, tops. (Well, five and six take a little longer.)

Also, I very recently started one of your favorite books; but it's way long, so I won't be done with it for a while!

*suddenly realises it's not out over here yet*

Why do you Yanks get it first? He's Irish.

Amazon says it's only £6.50! That's not bad...

I looked it up, and it appears that his publisher is an imprint of Disney Children's books, which is probably why we get it first? I agree, that's REALLY WEIRD.

Also I am jealous of your cheaper prices.

Skipped the spoilers, but I read the first three and part of the fourth a while ago before losing track of the series - I should probably go back to it at some point; I remember it being fun. And Artemis! Oh, snarky young geniuses. ♥

Also, re: shipping - I was a bit unsure of the Holly/Artemis pairing mostly because he's so young at the beginning (though age is easy enough to forget or ignore at times - God knows I did it often enough for Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game), but I think he gets older as the series progresses?

yes, you should! They are so good. I started reading them...what, ten-ish years ago? And I still love them.

well, by book six, he's fourteen-almost-fifteen, so yes, he does get older. Plus he's a genius. His hormones might be crazy, but his intellectual and emotional standards are much higher (although his emotional ones are also a little, er, skewed).

...okay okay I've been shipping this ship for over five years now, I'm a little blinded to the things that are wrong with it.

Ha, knowing myself, I'll probably end up liking the ship. It certainly seems preferable to the... random girl that apparently gets introduced later? All I know is that people are screaming canon!Sue all over the place. :P

I JUST FINISHED IT THIS MORNING.

OMG PSYCHIC CONNECTION!

I'm not going to ramble on too much since I'm going to concoct a monstrous list of what I think of it tomorrow.

Holly/Artemis for the win!

I KNOWWW EOIN COLFER AGREES. I mean, he ditched that Minerva chick, didn't he? (I was RANTING about what the hell happened to her while my friend just sighed and continued reading.)

YAY I AM SO GLAD.

SO TRUE

yay I hope I have not distracted you too much from that.

YES YES YES.

YES. I didn't care that much. I was actually relieved. Because she was good in a side-character, hey-you're-not-alone-better-watch-out way, but she would not make a good main character.

I've read the first and looooved it! It was so hilarious! Seriously, Artemis's snark just owns!!

I have The Eternity Code but I haven't read it yet. I didn't know the order of the books, so I guess I need to look for The Arctic Incident
