Title: The Games We Play
Character(s): Mandy Brocklehurst x Terry Boot; Michael Corner x Cho Chang; Kevin Entwhistle; Lisa Turpin; Marietta Edgecombe
Prompt: #6 (did you see what I did?)
Rating: PG

Mandy welcomed the crisp cool November breeze, removing the large Eagle head of her costume, as the Ravenclaw Quidditch team dismounted their brooms and were rushed by hoards of their housemates. Congratulations and cheers went around for their victory over the Hufflepuff team, and though the season had only just began, this win for Ravenclaw left them all feeling quite elated.

Terry had dropped his broom upon recognizing her in the costume, and with giddy abandonment, picked her up and twirled her around. "That was you, Mandy?" he grinned at her, almost forgetting himself before she was taken from his arms and passed to his fellow teammates for a rather large group hug.

"You were wonderful, Terry!" Lisa exclaimed, bounding over to him with a large smile on her face as she threw her arms around him and landed a kiss square on his mouth. Sufficient time had passed, curbing Mandy's feelings regarding Terry's preference for blondes, and she merely swatted at the bangs sticking to her forehead once she had landed on her feet.

"Have I told you that you look beautiful today?" Kevin grinned coming up from her side, dropping his broom as well. Her face was obviously flushed from the heat of wearing it for their house, and though she knew she probably looked a sight, she merely laughed at his compliment.

"You were brilliant, Cho," Michael hugged their seeker, as the claps on the back subsided and most of the crowd started to dissipate. Marietta smiled at Cho, nodding in her agreement.

"They're throwing a party back in the common room," she mentioned, tilting her head towards the castle. "Shall we all go?"

They all nodded in unison, breaking from the circle formation to walk back in pairs and groups of three and four off the pitch. Michael, Cho, and Marietta led the way, with Mandy and Kevin following a few feet behind them.

"Hey, Mandy..." Kevin cleared his throat. "It takes a special girl to put on a giant Eagle costume and root for the team like you did."

"Special as in insane?" she laughed.

"Special as in different," he grinned, shaking his head. "And you're different, Mandy. A good kind of different, I mean. Unique."

"How many more adjectives can you use, Kevin?" she teased and he laughed.

"I know..." he rubbed the back of his neck nervously and then grinned. "For a Ravenclaw, I'm not the best with words." He took a deep breath. "What I want to say is that... I think you're something..."

She raised her eyebrows at that, an amused expression crossing her face, causing him to laugh again. "Sorry," he apologized. "This is harder than I imagined. You're pretty intimidating, Mandy."

She laughed again and he smiled, feeling emboldened. "I wanted to know if you'd... go out with me."

Mandy blinked in surprised. Before she could answer, she was interrupted by a fit of giggles from behind. She turned to see Terry pull Lisa by the hand as he rushed up to Michael and Cho in front.

"Hey," Terry told his best friend. "We're going to skip on the festivities." He gave a knowing wink, and Lisa giggled again. When Michael nodded in acceptance, Terry pulled Lisa away, breaking from the group, giving a wave as they parted.

Mandy felt herself blink again at Terry's display, the numbness quickly disappearing as fast as the surprise. This was Terry after all, and she knew him quite well. This shouldn't have surprised her like it did, and so she turned back to Kevin.

"Sure, Kevin," she said, giving him a smile as she willed the dull ache to vanish. "I'd love to go out with you."
