Dominance and submission vs the Head and the Heart.

I've been reading some interesting posts on possible pairings in B7 lately. Most favourited is B/A , which didn't really surprise me. It's funny. I think they were polling the wrong audience. I have a large following for my Avon/Cally fics on fanfiction and they all love the ones where I have Avon clearly hating Blake and detesting even the sight of him. These people can see the romance and love between Avon and Cally quite clearly in the show. It's very clear in many scenes that they had a strong and close relationship. Cally is the only one Avon had a positive relationship with on the crew, the only one he felt comfortable around. They worked smoothly together from the beginning, and often without the conflict Avon has with the rest of the crew. In Project Avalon, I love that scene where it is very clear Avon cares about Cally a great deal, is not afraid to show the feelings on his face and both Blake and Jenna are very aware of how he feels about her. I saw the chemistry between them and Avon's feelings for her the moment they met on Sauron ( ... )

I was intrigued by this post: http://labingi.livejournal.com/150627.html and the comments. And then it occured to me that many of the fanfic I've read over the years centers around Blake and Avon. These stories greatly outnumber C/A stories (apart from the ones you write of course). If you know of any good ones, let me know.

Not to mention that scene where they're sitting so close they're practically in each other's laps
I must have missed that. Was this in Mission to Destiny?

and not stories whose sole excuse is to have sex (guilty!, but I do try to go about it in a non-explicit fashion and what I like to do is put the characters in unusual situations in regard to sex or inject the fic with a large dose of humour ( ... )

I think the first show to get majorly slashed was Star Trek. Then we have Stargate. Harry Potter of course, which I really object to because they're children. House. Sherlock Holmes, though I've only seen that one here on LJ ( ... )

I do remember Avon sitting very close to Jenna one time. In the holding cell in Redemption. I have always thought this was uncharacteristic for both of them. They have all this space on the bunk in a large cell and they choose to sit shoulder to shoulder.... What does it say about Jenna's character that she doesn't often get paired up with Avon? Avon's been paired up with almost anyone, but it's very hard to find A/J-fic. It's not an unnatural pairing, is it?

I can imagine the actors being offended by the assumed slash relationship. Especially in those days. It would probably hurt their career; where there's smoke there's fire.... Maybe that's why Avon treated his women really macho in series 3 and 4 (except Cally, that is).
