Title: Ianto's First Thanksgiving (3/11)
Author:
noneinnyetCharacters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto, Veronica/Logan, Mac, Wallace, Parker
Rating: It'll probably be NC-17. The boys can't be left alone for long without jumping each other and I got Logan and Veronica back together so there will be sex at some point. Plus, Dick's showing up eventually, 'nough said.
Summary: Ianto and Jack have come to visit Neptune for that grand American tradition of eating, Thanksgiving.
Spoilers: Through "Exit Wounds" for Torchwood and "The Bitch is Back" for Veronica Mars.
Disclaimer: Veronica Mars, Veronica, and Logan belong to Rob Thomas and Warner Bros. Torchwood, Captain Jack, Ianto, Gwen, and Rhys belong to Russel T. Davies and the BBC. Please don't sue me, all you'll get is a pile of DVD's and a somewhat broken laptop.
Author's Note: This is a sequel to my previous VM/TW crossover,
Lovely Rainy Holiday. I'd highly suggest reading that first or you will probably be confused. Also, I know that it's probably Jack's first Thanksgiving, too, as the tradition probably didn't carry over to the Boeshane Peninsula but somehow the title I had been considering, Ianto and Jack's First Thanksgiving Adventure, sounded too much like a really odd gay porno and while this is AU like whoa, it's not quite crack!fic.
Part Two At the suite, room service was just being delivered when Veronica got off the phone. “Mac, Parker, and Wallace are going to meet us at Java the Hut for dessert and coffee at nine,” she said, taking a plate of food from Logan as she sat back down.
“Are you going home tonight?” Logan asked.
“No. My dad's off bounty hunting in Nevada until at least tomorrow morning. That reminds me, I had my home phone forwarded to here again so check the caller ID before answering the phone tonight.”
“Don't worry, I do that anyway. I've finally gotten your dad to trust me around you, I'm not fucking that up. I do find it charming that, at twenty one, you still find the need to hide the fact that you're sleeping with your boyfriend.”
“Keeping my sexual activity a secret from my father works for us. We can talk all about a supposedly happily married woman sneaking off with her lesbian lover and the photographic evidence thereof, but our own sex lives stay buried deep down.”
“You're still garnering for that pony, aren't you?”
“Duh!”
“You two are tiring,” said Jack.
“Aren't you ever quiet?” asked Ianto.
“I think if Veronica stayed quiet her head would explode,” Logan said.
“I had a boyfriend that spontaneously combusted,” said Jack. “He was an alien who was internally composed almost entirely of ooze. Couldn't get the smell out for weeks.”
Veronica spotted Mac and Parker at a corner table and led Logan, Ianto, and Jack over to them. A waitress came over and quickly took their order. They had just finished making introductions--Jack had reached down and took Parker's hand in his, brushing his lips softly across the knuckles--when Veronica heard the familiar tones of Lars, this time singing “Mandy.”
“Oh no,” Veronica's eyes froze in a state of “deer in headlight.” “It's karaoke night.”
“I know,” gleed Parker. “Isn't it great?”
“I think it is,” said Jack.
“Oh good, Wallace is here!” Veronica said, running over to her friend that just came through the door. She grabbed his arm and clenched her teeth while saying quietly, “Save me, I think Parker is going to make us all sing.”
“Seriously, girl, if you don't want to sing then you shouldn't invite a bunch of people to a place that has a regular karaoke night. A place that you used to work at.”
“They moved it on me,” she said as they made their way over to the table. “It's usually on Thursdays, not Mondays.”
“Uh, won't they be closed this Thursday?” he said.
“Doh!” Veronica exclaimed, slapping her hand up to her forehead. “I poured hundreds, maybe thousands, of cups of coffee for this place and they can't even be considerate enough to let me avoid karaoke night?” They reached the table and Veronica made more introductions. “Jack, Ianto, this is my very best friend, Wallace Fennel. Wallace, Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones.”
“It's nice to meet you guys.”
“Wait, Wallace? You're the guy from the fla-” started Jack.
Wallace turned his head and looked at Veronica with narrowed eyes. “You told them about that?”
“It was more a means of telling them about the bong we planted in Logan's locker.”
“I knew it was you!” shouted Logan. “Four years later and you finally admit it.”
Veronica hadn't noticed that while she had gone to the door to get Wallace that Parker had left the table. All of the sudden, there were hands on both Mac and Veronica's arms pulling them to the stage. “Come on, guys, I signed us up!”
Veronica shot a look to Wallace and Logan. Save me, she mouthed at them. They both just sat there with grins on their faces shaking their heads at her. Before Veronica knew what hit her, she was on stage singing “Baby Love” by The Supremes. Parker was dancing around and having a great time, pointing to the very reluctant Mac and Veronica when she felt they should take over the Diana Ross part. By the end, Veronica had to admit that it wasn't a fate worse than death but still set out to get her revenge. She went over to talk to the guy running the karaoke before returning to the table with a smirk on her face.
“Logan Echolls? You're next,” the emcee called out.
Before sitting down, Veronica gave Logan a light shove off of his chair towards the stage. Deciding he wasn't going down alone, Logan grabbed Ianto and dragged him up to the stage with him. The song started up and Logan smiled at Veronica's choice.
“Wild thing, you make my heart sing,” he began, pointing a finger at Veronica. She let out a cat call. The boys hammed about the stage, taking turns and often shouting out lyrics together while all of the members of their party cheered them on from the table. Jack whistled as Ianto winked at him. Ianto had a rich, raspy voice that was somewhat at odds with his generally polished appearance and demeanor. Coming back to the table, both men were grabbed by their significant others and kissed soundly.
Jack got up and was soon on stage crooning “My Funny Valentine.” He played it up to the crowd of women that moved closer to watch but smiled over at Ianto occasionally. Veronica spotted the woman sitting with Lars let go of his hand and stare at the stage, practically drooling. When Jack had finished, he went back to the table and put his arm around Ianto's shoulders. The collective group of women let out a sigh of disappointment.
They sat and watched a few more of the acts, laughing at some of the ones that were truly horrible and applauding a couple of people that were pretty talented or at least put on a good show of it. Parker excused herself to the restroom, asking Mac or Veronica if they wanted to go with her. After Parker was a few feet away, Veronica said, “I still don't get girls that always feel the need to bring other girls with them to the bathroom.”
“This from the girl that used to run an office out of the girls' bathroom at Neptune High?” asked Wallace.
“That was business. It's different,” Veronica protested.
“It's not business that keeps me up at night when I'm lying in bed by myself,” smirked Logan.
Ianto rose his eyebrows.
“Why Miss Mars, I didn't realize you had such a deviant streak,” said Jack.
Logan had a dream expression on his face. “I remember this one time, I had her up against the counter and-”
“Come on man, TMI!” exclaimed Wallace. “This is my best friend you're talking about, she's practically my sister.”
“Hey, Logan actually is my brother,” said Ianto, “and you don't see me telling him to stop.”
Parker had just finished washing her hands and was brushing her hair back into place when a short blonde waitress burst into the bathroom and slammed one of the stall doors shut. She had a cell phone up to her ear and sounded like she was crying. It wasn't until the waitress began shouting that Parker realized that she knew her.
“I'm not cheating on you with Duncan!”
“Veronica, are you OK?” Parker asked.
“He just showed up for lunch and he said hello. I was being nice to him, it's my job!”
“What's going on, Veronica? Talk to me.”
“I have to go back to work. I'll see you tonight.”
Parker moved to the side as the stall door burst open again. She tried to catch Veronica but despite her height advantage she was unable to catch her as the shorter girl burst back out of the restroom. I must have just thought that was Veronica. I mean, that was a waitress. Veronica was just out having fun with our friends, she wasn't upset. And I don't even know who Duncan is.
Parker walked back out to the table and saw Veronica there laughing at something Wallace had said and holding Logan's hand. She certainly wasn't wearing the hideous vest that was part of the waitress uniform at Java the Hut and her hair was down in soft waves, not straight and held back in a ponytail. She sat down and started surveying the restaurant for a waitress that looked like the one she had just seen in the bathroom.
“Parker?” asked Mac. “Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost.”
“Yeah,” Parker said softly. “I'm fine. I think I'm ready to go, though. I've got class in the morning and I've still got to pack before I fly home.”
“OK,” Mac said. “Guys, we're going to head out. It's getting kind of late.”
A chorus of good-byes to the girls rang out and a few hugs were exchanged before they left. A few songs later and Wallace stand up, too. “I gotta go, too, guys. I've gotta go for a run in the morning.”
“Night Wallace,” Veronica said.
“It was good to meet you,” said Ianto.
Jack tried to convince them all that they should go up and sing one last song but was wholly unsuccessful. Eventually they hauled themselves out to Logan's Land Rover and back to the hotel.
Veronica had just finished brushing her teeth in Logan's bathroom when she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist. Logan kissed her neck and she relaxed into his embrace, moaning softly. “That wasn't the disaster I thought it was going to be,” she said.
“Admit it,” Logan said, playing with her hair. “You kind of liked getting up there and singing. I saw that smile.”
“I was smiling at the ridiculous faces Wallace was making at me.”
“Uh huh,” Logan said, turning around and giving her a kiss. “Mmm, minty,” he smiled before pulling her in for another, deeper kiss. “Come to bed, Veronica?”
“Logan, the walls are surprisingly thin in this place,” she said, and both remembered times they could here the other having sex with someone else.
“Then I guess we'll just have to be quiet,” Logan said, waggling his eyebrows before picking Veronica.
Veronica giggled as Logan tossed her down onto his bed. He stripped down to his boxers before joining her on the bed. Veronica propped herself onto her side and went back to kissing her boyfriend. Logan trailed a hand up her side, pushing up the t-shirt she had borrowed from him. Veronica shifted so he could pull the shirt over her head. Logan kissed along Veronica's collarbone down to her breasts, teasing one of her nipples with his tongue.
“God, I love your brother but I really wish he wasn't here right now.”
“I love my brother, too, but can we not talk about him right now?”
“Deal.”
Logan and Veronica made quick work of removing the remainder of their clothes with occasional, not entirely successful, reminders to each other that they should stay quiet.
Jack and Ianto were lying in bed next to each other, neither sleeping but both trying to get their selves on west coast time. Jack was threading his fingers through Ianto's hair when they heard the sound of Logan's voice followed by a giggle from Veronica. “They're so having sex in there,” said Jack.
“Totally,” laughed Ianto. “We're supposed to be trying to sleep, though, not speculating on my brother's sex life.”
“I'm still too wired. I think that fourth coffee was a bad idea.”
“You think?” Ianto said, rolling his eyes. “I have an idea how to relax you.”
“Really, and what's that?”
Ianto swung his legs off the bed and stood up. “Join me in the shower?” he asked, holding a hand out to Jack. Jack accepted the hand and allowed Ianto to pull him up.
“You're a genius.”
“I know. Don't mind when you tell me, though.”
