Summary: Have you ever walked down a street and seen something out of the corner of your eye? Ever got a feeling someone’s watching you? Well for Ianto Jones it wasn’t just a feeling. They had watched his every move since the cyber woman incident, they knew what had happen to Dr Tanizaki. So it wasn’t long before they tracked Ianto Jones down.

Have you ever walked down a street and seen something out of the corner of your eye? Ever got a feeling someone’s watching you? Well for Ianto Jones it wasn’t just a feeling. They had watched his every move since the cyber woman incident, they knew what had happen to Dr Tanizaki. So it wasn’t long before they tracked Ianto Jones down.
‘What’s going on? Where am I?’
Ianto was tied to a chair blindfolded but obviously still near the bay as the salty air still lingered.
Silence.
He shifted in his binds trying to free his wrists but to no avail. He was generally good with ropes but the harder he pulled the tighter they got. There was the sound of feet pacing not far from him, so Ianto tried again.
‘I don’t know what’s going on, but who ever you are please, I’ve done nothing!’
‘Oh you’ve done something. A pretty big something at that!’
The voice was foreign probably Chinese, no maybe Japanese. Ianto expected the words to be angry possibly emotional but instead they were full of... oddly enough they were full of awe.
‘Ianto Jones. We’ve waited for this. We’ve been watching, waiting. Finally we got you on your own.’
‘Listen what ever you want you’re not going to get it! If you’re trying to get to Torchwood then this won’t help!’
‘Torchwood? No we wanted you Ianto Jones.’
‘What why? I’m just a tea-boy. You know clean up all there mess. They don’t even know I exist half the time.’
‘We want you for your brain Ianto. Don’t you realise how incredibly smart you are?’
The man came close to Ianto slowly undoing the blindfold.
‘This Ianto Jones, is TIC. The Institute for Cyberkinetics.’
‘Look if you wanted technological help it’s not me you need!’
‘Mr. Jones… I know what you did. Dr Tanizaki told us where he was going before he left, so it wasn’t long before we found out what had happened.’
Of course all the shit that ever happened to him recently went back to the biggest mistake in his entire life.
‘Look if you’re after revenge then fine get it over with!’
The man stood back studying Ianto's reaction for a moment. Finally realising how much Ianto had misunderstood.
‘The boy is clueless just like you said he may be Dr Cai.’ A young woman stepped out and if Ianto wasn’t being held hostage he would have thought how gorgeous she was. Her long blonde hair flowed gently over her shoulders as she approached him. ‘Was it really necessary to tie him up?’ she slid her arm around the back of the chair and began to fumble with the ropes before being ushered away.
‘I’m sorry Aimee but he obviously needs some more ‘persuasion’ before we free him.’
‘Hang on a second! What do you mean persuasion? I’M NOT STAYING!’ Ianto struggled but just found himself tightening the knots again.
‘Please… Ianto. Can I call you that?’
Ianto found himself lost in her gaze for a second before nodding politely.
‘Well Ianto...’ She purred into his ear whilst stroking his cheek. ‘We want you to stay. You are so incredible. I mean I’ve never even dreamt of a cyber conversion unit let alone making one!’
‘Lisa helped.’ Ianto choked out.
‘No. She couldn’t have. You may have thought that but Dr Tanizaki briefed us. She was far too ill to help you Ianto. You did it. You're amazing.’
Ianto stared at them wide eyed. He was actually being acknowledged for his talents. This was definitely a first since Torchwood one. No he couldn’t just turn his back on Jack.
‘No I’m sorry thank you for your compliments but I have to get back to torchwood.’
‘They don’t care.’
Ianto’s head quickly snapped to another man stood behind him holding some sort of hand held device.
‘They don’t even know you’ve gone!’ He held it out to Ianto showing the team getting along just fine, just doing their normal jobs. ‘You’ve been gone almost a day and they don’t care.’
A tear formed at the side of Ianto’s eye, he knew they were right. After Lisa they had totally deserted him. All except Jack. He had found comfort there, even if it was only for a short time. But then surely Jack wouldn’t care if he was gone either. He had called him a monster and acted like a complete arsehole toward him.
‘Listen sweetie, you have a place here, with us. As you’ll have heard I’m Aimee, this is Dr Cai and the man behind you is Rick. We need a forth member someone with not only the intelligence but the judgment to put technological advances first.’ The woman crouched in front of Ianto smiling sweetly. ‘I don’t want to have to do this.’ She was holding a small gun tightly in her hand as she talked. ‘But if you don’t agree we have no other choice.’
