I have to go with Gareth on this. I like to think that he's never been with another guy and fell in love with Jack not even thinking about the whole homosexual thing but just because he's Jack.

agree here - it was Jack that Ianto fell for, to his own surprise - and in accordance with how Gareth views the situation. In Fragments Ianto was taken aback by his attraction to Jack when they rolled on top of one another in the warehouse, whereas if he was experienced and trying to seduce Jack he would have kissed him then to ensure an invite to join TW3. His initial attempts to get Jack's attention were Weevil catching and coffee-making, not seduction - it was the mutual attraction that engendered the flirting.

Jack is a man that is attractive to all species, never mind all sexes, as is JB for that matter, so I believe it was the person that attracted Ianto, despite his lack of previous attraction/experience with men. In the first season a discussion of Jack's sexuality amongst the team drew out the response from Ianto that he didn't care what Jack's sexuality was...
