Title : Weird [1/?] (Yes, I know sucky. Got a better one?)

by : Dru (That would be me, obviously)

Rating : Hmmm. PG, to be safe. lol. Though it might pass for G, but eh.

Genre : General, some fluff and drama. A smidgen of violence. lol.

Banner : I made the banner. lol. Actually a shrunken down version of a wallpaper I'm doing. lol. The pics of Ianto & Jack are from the official BBC web-page. The Faith one is from Wikipedia and the Buffy one came up when searching on Google.

Summary :Jack comes back and things are...different as is to be expected. But who is that brunette with the dangerous eyes?

A/N : Crossover. Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Torchwood. After ses. 1 Torchwood and after series finale Buffy. I have two more parts planned, but there will probably be more. Things will be explained, and such. I'm no good with betas, so all errors are pretty much my fault but I think I've got it pretty much correct but if you see anything wrong, feel free to let me know.

This is my first Torchwood fic, even if it has some Buffy in it, it's still kinda like oh, my god will anyone like it? So, please let me know what you think of it because it's been pretty much done for like a week but I've been polishing it and make it as shiny as I can and bugging people to read it. lol.

And thanks to the people that have read it and/or helped me : Spu023,
faith_less_one  and
winifred_ish  (even if we got in a semi-fight over a sentence.) *Hugs*

Isn't it weird how you can actually miss a place without even realizing it, until your back there?

Who would ever think that Captain Jack Harkness would ever miss the Welsh city of Cardiff. He didn't, not until he was back there and looking around the place. And perhaps it was not exactly the place, but the life he had, had there. If you didn't count fighting aliens and such, he had led a rather boring life, outside of work he didn't do very much and he lived at his workplace. So that was not something he had been missing, but he had missed the people in his life. The people he worked with and was around all day.

He couldn't have been away for long though, everything seemed to be in its place and nothing different. He would just go down to the hub, apologize and then they could get on with their lives. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his coat (not the one he always used to wear during his stay here, in the rush he had forgotten it) and walked towards the tourist information office that hid the entrance to the hub.

He was so deep in his own thoughts of where he had been, about the doctors new appearance and Martha, that he didn't notice when he walked into a couple that were kissing (couldn't they think of a better place than in the middle of a sidewalk?) and he just happened to almost topple them over. He hated when that happened, because one of two things usually happened. People became rude and bit your head off (not literally, offcourse at least not on Earth) or the second where they just said 'Sorry' a few million times like it was their fault. He just mumbled a 'sorry' to get it out of the way, and walked away before they could do either but he did see from the corner of his eyes that the brunette chuckled a bit before the blond told her something that made her seemingly rolls her eyes and then hug the blond.

When he entered the office he had expected to see Ianto coming out from behind that bead curtain with a cup of coffee (Oh, how he had missed the coffee) or something, but there was nothing. This was kind of odd, but didn’t mean anything since he might be picking up after the team, or making them coffee or getting food. When he thinks back to it, they really did take him for granted and probably still did if he was still working there.

He was just about to reach behind the desk to push that certain black button to close the door, when said door was opened and he turned around. The brunette from earlier walked in, and she was not mucking about. She looked him over, reached behind the desk right next to him and pushed it right underneath his fingers, before she went for the red one which opened the secret door to the hallway leading to the elevator to the main hub. He looked her in the eyes (nice pair of eyes) and there was that playful glint in her eyes but underneath it there was something dangerous lurking.

The door opened and she left him there by the desk, and this was all getting a bit odd. Who had she replaced? He was hoping she was an employee, or they might be in some deep shit. She snapped him out of it when she turned around and looked at him.

"Well, are you coming or not, I haven't got all day you know." She told him, before disappearing down the hallway towards the elevator. He followed her down the oh so very familiar hallway towards the elevator because what else could he do (he had to make sure is she was friendly or not before attacking), and he had been going there anyways. When they had stepped in and the door was closing, she turned to him and smiled at him again.

"So, what's your name? I'm assuming you’re a friend, rather than an enemy but you never know." She told him, with this little glint in her eyes which made a cold shiver run through Jack's body. That was never a good thing.

"I'm Captain Jack Harkness, and who are you?" He asked her, putting on his most charming smile and put out his hand. But no sooner had he done so, when he was shoved up against a wall of the elevator and his feet left the ground a little. All right, either they had another sex addicted alien on the loose, maybe she just didn't like his name or had some serious motor control issues. He would almost prefer the first, since she couldn't really kill him ... Well, at least he didn't think she could.

"Why are you back?" She only gritted out, her eyes on fire with rage, and he was going to have to go with enemy, shame because that body of hers was gorgeous. She dropped him down right before the elevator doors opened and walked out as if nothing at all had happened. It took him just a moment to compose himself, but that meant she had an advantage on him and she was already half-way to the main hub.

He had been planning on tackling her or something of that nature, when she waited for the last door to the hub to open but he was just a few seconds too late and the door closed before he could slip through. Having to wait for the door to open again, he watched as the brunette walked past Tosh who just said Hi and Owen who threw a balled up paper at her with a smirk.

Just before the door opened, he heard her toss over her shoulder; "Guess who's back." which made Tosh and Owen look towards where Jack stood. Tosh's eyes went as big as saucers, and Owen just stared at him. But when he stepped into the hub, it was Gwen who got to him first and hugged him within an inch of his life (Well, if that was possible it would have been that kind of a hug) then came Tosh who hugged him as well like mad and Owen who just shook his hand.

"Back with the great unwashed, are you?" Owen asked him, and had this strange smile on his face and sneaked a peak over at Gwen who rolled her eyes and Jack heard Tosh sigh, as she kept pinching his arm as if she expected him to be a mass-hallucination or something.

"Do you even know what that means, Owen?" Tosh asked him, and looked at him with searching eyes. Jack had the feeling that this was not the first time Owen said something without knowing what it meant, but then Owen was always saying things without thinking about them. He was the act now, think later kind of guy.

"I'm not stupid, off course I know what it means. Common people." He told Tosh, who just groaned in annoyance. Jack looked around and noticed he didn't see Ianto anywhere. Now where could he be?

He had stopped paying attention to their bickering and told them half-heartily that he was going to go look for Ianto. He didn't miss the looks on their faces when they heard that comment, but he didn't want to think about it.

No one could say that Jack wasn't lucky because the first place he searched for Ianto is where he was, though maybe you could debate the luck thing since he found him in the conference room...but not alone, with the brunette from earlier. They were quite busy at the moment he walked in. The brunette had Ianto pressed up against a wall and he didn't seem to mind it one bit.

He heard a chuckle and looked from Ianto's jacket on the floor up to where the brunette was chuckling into the corner of Ianto's neck. She turned her head around and stared at Jack. But he was far more interested in the state of Ianto's usually perfect looking suit. The suit jacket was on the floor, his tie was loose around his neck and a few of the shirt buttons were unbuttoned, his hair was all ruffled up. One of his favorite looks on Ianto.

Who was this woman?

"Sorry for the PDA, Jack but I just haven't seen him in a few days and I kind of missed him." She told him with a smirk on her face (she had probably heard him coming towards the doors and did that on purpose), and let go of Ianto who buttoned up his shirt, grabbed his jacket of the floor and fixed his tie.

She tugs on her red top and pulls it over the exposed flesh of her stomach, but it was obviously not meant to cover her whole abdomen because there was still a sliver of a skin peaking through between her pants and top, where one of Ianto's hands rested on her waist with a few fingers under the top a little bit. Since when was Inato all touchy-feely?

Jack looks up at Ianto with a raised eyebrow, before Ianto stepped away from her and gave Jack a heartfelt hug but it was too short and then he returned to her side and the hand went back around her waist.

"I never got your name in the elevator, so do you mind telling me now?" Jack asked the brunette and she smiled at him but her smile didn't reach her eyes. Her eyes looked so old and tired, like the weight of the world was on her shoulders or at least a piece of it.

She puts out her hand and he notices the fancy rings on her out-stretched hand. There is one which is kind of three interlocking thinner rings and a then there's the ring with the pretty diamond and the channel-set baguettes. Maybe she was married, and they were having an affair. Who knows, those rings could mean so much.

"I'm Faith Lehane." She told him, and her smirk went all the way to her eyes when she saw that he had noticed her rings. It was only his own fault; the universe did not revolve around him. Time just keeps on going with or without him.

When he shook her hand, he looked her in the eyes and something was just wrong with her. He didn't know what it was, but there was something in her eyes that was just not human plus her attack in the elevator, obviously. He wondered if Ianto knew this, and choose to ignore it or if he hadn't a single clue about it.

"I'm going borrow Ianto here for a bit, just need to catch up on work related matters and such." Jack told Faith, as she sat down in a chair and put her feet on the table before she looked over to Ianto and dropped her feet to another chair, waving them away like she didn't give a damn.

--

They walked silently to his office, and when they entered it looked unchanged and abandoned except for the brown cardboard boxes scattered around the floor and desk. Some were empty, some had yet to be put together and some were half-full.

"Since you had been gone for so long, we just assumed you were not coming back and Owen was made boss we thought it was only fair that he would get the office. Faith came here to help me pack up your stuff and put it in storage. The team is always busy, we would never have finished it on our own and she likes it when I get home before midnight if I can. But I guess, since your back you will be wanting your office back." Ianto told him, as he started to remove things from one of the cardboard boxes.

"So, is Faith just a friend or something more maybe?" Jack asked him, ignoring what Ianto had just said and he had also decided to ignore Faith's rings because who’s to say she wasn't married to someone else and she was just having an affair with Ianto because you never know with people on this earth. Sure, he might be from the same one but this was 21st century and his earth was 51st.

"She's my wife." Ianto told him, without looking up from where he was putting some books back to their rightful place and showed Jack his hand that had been around Faith's waist before, so he hadn't gotten a clear view off it before. The ring on his finger was a simple, silver-y looking ring and didn't look like Faith's ring at all. It was possibly white gold or platinum, more popular these days than silver.

"Your rings don't match." Jack just told Ianto, because don't wedding rings usually match?

"She wanted to go the less traditional route, but I wanted something simple so we just got what we both wanted." Ianto told him, again without looking at Jack who was still standing close to the door of the office and looking at Ianto who continued to put things back on shelves, the desk and such.

"When I was outside the tourist office I saw your wife kissing a blond woman. What is that all about, or didn't you know about that?" Jack asked him, trying to see some reaction from Ianto but like always he was always very careful with his expressions.

"That was probably just Buffy. Off course, I know about that and I think Buffy's going to Cleveland again. There's a Hellmouth there, or maybe it was Italy. Not all that sure, sir." Ianto just told him, finally looking at Jack but only for a split second.

"And you’re all right with that?" Jack asked him, because he hadn't really thought Ianto would be all right with it at all.

"That particular blond? Yes, because they have a bond that can never be broken." Ianto told him, just before Faith walked into the office laughing like mad. They heard annoyed screams from the main area of the hub.

"What did you do now, Faith?" Ianto asked her, as she dropped herself in a chair and looked at Jack who was still standing near the door. Her eyes sparkled with mischief, but underneath it there was something dangerous. Whatever it was, it made her eyes look decades older than the rest of her.

"What are you?" Jack asks her, as it just slipped out. He hadn't meant to ask her, but before he could stop it he had asked her. Ianto got a small smile on his face, as he finished the unpacking. They hadn't gotten that far, anyways.

Faith stood up, stopped just a few feet away from Jack and told him; "I'm a Slayer."

A Slayer?

He knows he's heard that one before, but where was the question. It had been a while but...yeah, a vampire slayer. Feisty little things. Faith could definitely be one of those. He remembered the one he met while still traveling with The Doctor and Rose. It had been in Somerset in the U.K in 1813, the girl had been living as Edward Weston, a nobleman to as she put it lure the vampires into a false sense of some kinda security. Her real name had been Elizabeth, fantastic fighter.

His eyes must have shown what he remembered or something, because Faith smiled and clapped a bit. It was obvious that she was mocking him. Come on, like knowing what a Slayer is, was common knowledge.

Were they all this annoying now? Had Elizabeth have become this annoying if he had stayed long enough?

"But you can't be human. What you did in the elevator can't have been just your normal strength." Jack told her, and Ianto raised one eyebrow up with question marks in his eyes. Faith just looked back at him, chuckles a bit and rolls her eyes all; don’t worry about it.

"You hurt him. Then you come back like everything is all okay. Do you even know for how long you've been gone?" Faith asked him, her eyes dark and dangerous. She was not a woman to be pissed of by anyone, as she could probably snap them like a twig if she wanted in a second.

"I'm sorry for that, I just...something happened that I had been waiting for a long, long time and I didn't have time to explain. And no, I don't know for how long I've been gone but it can't have been for far too long. Maybe a week or two, month?" Jack told Faith, who was still looking at him like she wanted to seriously maim him.

"A year, sir. You have been gone for a year. Didn't you think I was going to move on with my life? Didn't you think the team could go on without you? Well, maybe you did since you already left us once." Ianto told him, as he finally spoke up and stepped up besides Faith who looked at Ianto and smiled like she was proud of him for something private between the two of them.

Hmm. Wow, a year. 12 months. That was a bit longer than he had expected but it wasn't that bad. It could have been two years.

End of chapter 1, but To Be Continued...

A/N # 2 : The slayer mentioned that Jack met in 1813 is from Presumption by Jane Espenson from Tales of the Slayers Graphic novel and she's also in Vol. II (The Ghosts of Slayers Past) of Tales of the Slayer, that one by Scott Allie. I LOVE Wikipedia : Click me....

*sigh* We were soooooo close to beating Denmark in in the world championship in Handball. Like I told my Dad ; Shit happens. But still sucks and hurts. Now
winifred_ish gets to tease me. :(

This was a very stressful game. We're a very, very, very competitive competitive nation and when against the Danish, it gets even more competitive.
