That might be it. I have that reaction more to stationary bicycling, but bicycle is my primary means of transportation, so it falls on the work side.
That said, I have actually used shovelglove to good effect. Got out of the habit though, and reverted to my previous weak and flabby code jockey self. Was hoping to get started again. Thanks for the reminder.
It helps to think of it as training. I want muscles so I can do things, so exercising with motions similar to what I might want to do seems less silly than just lifting weights would.
Unfortunately for me, I have two herniated disks. So most of those motions are exactly the wrong thing for me to do. Especially anything that involves twisting.
OTOH I have gone ahead and signed up with a health club. Of course, that is all I have done so far. But, if I can get myself going, I do hope to do the stationary bike and treadmills some. Rowing machines would be OK for me too, if I can set it so I don't have to lean too far forward.
