One of the greatest joys in my life is the Independent Film Channel. Today Total Eclipse was on, which I hadn't seen in a million years. Oh, I know. I've seen the thing, and I still have the same emotions whenever I think about.

Wow, I had forgotten about that movie. It was bizarre and DiCaprio was very hard to buy as Rimbaud, especially with the faux facial hair toward the end.

Yes, lots and lots of absinthe. As a teen, I imagined that it tasted like Ecto Cooler. The reality turned out to be much more undelicious.
And yes, David gets stabbed in the hand and later he shoots Leo in the hand. They really hated each other's palms, I guess.

If that sounds really fantastic, let me assure you that it is not.

Validation! I think I'm a few years older than you, so, in my case, it was never able to sink its claws in, despite by fondness for Agnieszka Holland and ... gays. I still see it mentioned as an "ohmygod must see" among folks of a certain stripe, though -- particularly in the wake of David Thewlis' Harry Potter affiliation.

The sad thing is, the play on which the movie was based is really, really good.

I haven't seen this in a million years, though I know I saw it on IFC.

All I remember was Leo urinating on poetry. So yeah, it didn't leave a big impression.
