Remember These Girls?

Remember the " girls don't do sci-fi" girls?  Well, they've got some new members and they're definite contenders for the cuteness crown:

Sorry, Nate, this one steals the show.  I LOVE this picture.  This, friends, is what KNTR is all about.  Thanks to James of the California Browncoats for the image.  (This little girl is bragging that she's older ( Read more... )

See previous post, ncb. Yeah, I noticed the shirt.

Seriously, I know he made good money on Dr Horrible. He really could get some more shirts, no? (Actually, I sincerely hope he does not - I quite like the "where's it going to turn up next?" game.)

I also noticed, upon close inspection, that I'm not entirely convinced that bandanna girl here isn't forehead writing girl from the last signing. Look at the front teeth and the eyes.

I thought she looked really familiar from another one of these events. I think you're correct. VIVA Fangirls!

Glad it's not just me. It's hard to tell with the profile vs the frontal view, but yeah...I'm suspicious. Viva la fangirl, indeed.

The people who think girls don't do sci-fi clearly don't do research. :)

PS I have been *amazed* (appalled?? amused?) at how many "writers" for actual "news agencies" don't bother to do the amount of research a 2-second Google search will get you, and thereby completely miss the Fact Boat.
I mean, *COME ON*. Especially for anything fannish. Unless they just enjoy poking sticks at fire ant mounds as a hobby.

Nor do they ever so much as poke their head in at a convention. So many of the conventions have entire panels hosted by sci-fi writers. Some conventions are *entirely* sci-fi book-driven. All it would take would be poking their frakking head in to see the large numbers of girls and women in the frelling room; people who are not only "interested", but "fans", and on top of that fans who are really into it and pay money to purchase their products (books) and oftimes travel, purchase other works, etc.
If they're (these publishers/ retailers) even *just* in it for the money, they're mismanaging themselves toward a major EPIC FAIL.
