Mirror is old. Maybe since the 64 version?

Drafting was introduced in the ds one.

Putting in old courses was also introduced in the ds one.

I think the reason that there are so many racers and so many broken items is that Nintendo is trying to make party games more accessible by making them more luck based. See Smash Bros and Mario Party.

Well, unless you are good, you're not beating me no matter how lucky you get. You still need some skills to stay in 1st place. And I'm not sure how "luck-based" it actually is. The item you get IS based on your position. Super mushrooms (unlimited mushrooms for 10 seconds basically), bullet bill, star and blue shells are all EXTREMELY likely to get 7th place and below and IMPOSSIBLE to get in 1st place.

I do like the game. A lot.

I get my Wii adapter so i can play online on monday. I'll let you know how I do online. And you know I'm a Mario Kart purist. Nothing will be better than the original. But this game is good.

Oh yeah, another bad, all but 1 of the new battle boards are attrocious... Did the they always have coin battle mode too? Also, red shell homing is completely different and it hurts me in battle mode...

I just used the weight gain thing as an example of adding content, even if stupid (it's still LESS stupid than the pool and bowling games when you're forced to mundanely hang out with your contacts in GTA IV, you can go watch a magic a show, yep, really stupid ( ... )
