It's E-RAWN, though I'm even willing to accept E-Ran at this point.

Pet Peeve of the Moment/Of LIFE:

You'd think after all the media attention of late, people would finally get that the country's name isn't pronounced "Eye-Ran" and yet, they are still saying it.

GRAAAAH. People! On behalf of Iranians everywhere, I have one thing to say to you: DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW IGNORANT YOU SOUND?

No! I also don't SPEAK Eye-rain-ian.

But HEY!!! Did you know that Persian and Farsi are the SAME THING? Because apparently there are people in this world who still have no clue! Holy shit. It's amazing how little people know, and how freely they'll admit to their ignorance with absolutely no shame.

Grumble grumble.

I don't speak Indian. Because Indian is a language, according to many, MANY people!

You also don't speak whatever brown language brown people speak (I do know your mother tongue, I'm just trying to sound as ignorant as possible for the purposes of this discussion!) because YOU'RE NOT A REAL BROWN, as we've already determined. :P

Just as ignorant as the people who pronounce the S in Illinois! (It's appalling how many Californians I've encountered who do this. But most Californians are ignorant of the fact that there are 49 other states in the Union.)

What? Seriously? People make that mistake (not as a joke)? I am genuinely baffled.

One of the (few) perks of being Norwegian: we pronounce it pretty much correctly and can laugh at people who don't. I feel your pain, though, I've been seriously asked if I ride a polar bear to school several times. People = stupid.

Surprisingly, SO HAVE I! I think it was a joke, but I can never be too sure. Oh, those silly Yankees!

(So...have you?!)

Everyone knows that Canadians are too busy building their igloos to have time to ride polar bears.

That should be our solution to everything. That, and getting sued.
