Oooooh, this chapter has so much yummy stuff -- Madeline terrorizing Birkoff, Phillip's insane plan being uncovered, and a bonus Torture Twins reference! *Is gleeful*
The story definitely took a serious turn, but am enjoying writing it anywhere (albeit laughing significantly less while doing so; the Madeline-muse iss less inclined to be witty or make humorous observations when Madeline's pissed off, it seems).
I was dying with laughter over your line about Madeline and her maternal instincts, and I was nodding my head in complete agreement with the line above. This line is perfect because she totally is "the exception to most rules."
And I really like your take and how you convey Madeline's reaction to Philip passing Section on to Nikita.
I know, right? My comedian muse, she apparently doesn't think Madeline's inclined to wit and humor when angry. Lol. I tried, but with the exception of a couple lines, everything ended up way serious. :( Unfortunately, the last chapter is more serious still--but hopefully still interesting. *crosses fingers*
I always kind of wondered what Madeline's reaction would be to finding out about Phillip's plan before she died/left/whatever, and there are so many possibilities, but it's fun getting to read at least one of them. :D
This is probably my favorite chapter so far! I love Madeline threatening Birkoff, finding out about Philip's insane plan and being incredulous, thinking snarky comments about her maternal instincts, plus bonus Gordon interaction! LOL he doesn't really know Madeline very well if he thinks she'll give him a less painful death than Center. ;)
Thank you! It was incredibly fun to write Madeline being, well, the Madeline we know and love - utterly terrifying and using that to her advantage. Lol. <3
